Alodynia first time for a while
I used to get it more often. Called it sore spot. Woke with it this morning. Definitely something hormonal going on as well.
Question do we all get alodynia?
Is it mostly women, and is it every migraine.
Finally if it isnt, could it be with the hormonal ones...
Thanks.

I have it about 80% of the time....like someone has hit me with a 2x4 repeatedly. I dislike having my head touched or doing anything with my hair. A shower seems to be most soothing.

Sorry Theresa, Its what I used to call a sore spot, like the pain has come to the surface and it hurts to touch...
Some people say even their hair seems to hurt.
But of a basic interpretation, but it suits me....LOL

All over my freakin head today. It's raining which makes the TN act up and make my scalp burn and sting. It sucks.

yup...I get it. Usually feels like an ice pick shoved in my head but the scalp is sensitive too. And yes OMG does my hair ever hurt! During bad phases I'm tempted to shave my head and not allow anything to touch it....

I know I should know this, or google it, but what actually causes this....it sure is painful.
I dont even need to touch it I can feel it all day today.

Allodynia means when we suffer pain from a non-painful stimulus. I get this on my scalp often- I notice it when I wash my hair. I used to think I must have bumped my head but didn't remember it- but now I know it's just part of the migraine.
Sometimes, during a bad migraine I can't stand for anyone to touch me anywhere - it feels painful, even if they are touching with love. It makes me feel bad to ask them to stop as I know they are trying to comfort me. What an odd disease we have, you know?

Allodynia
I don't usually get it.
Of those of you who do have this pain, do any of the meds listed on the wikipedia site help? I know that some of you take some of these meds anyway for migraines. I wondered if they help with the Allodynia.

Re: Alodynia first time for a while
I don't take any of the drugs so I don't know. Currently it is mostly tied to the migraines and the pain meds there aren't terribly effective for me anyway. I have been previously diagnosed with CRPS or RSD. I got stepped on my a cow (and she meant it) and it damaged the nerve that runs along the big toe bone. Took me months to get that to stop hurting - OTC didn't help, but my PT figured out what was going on and once we treated for RSD then it resolved. I do tend to have pain issues at old injuries (mainly when the weather changes) and never realized that this could be what is going on.
Sorry if this is foggy - I just gave in and took an Imitrex injection and it leaves me a bit fuzzy for a while.
