Botox Study Results
Here is the results of a Botox Study: http://www.nyheadache.com/blog/?p=151
Note, in the comments, that botox seems to work in 70% of headache patients. The doctor also mentions the number of treatments for the treatment to work. However, it seems to me that why is it that most of us, regardless whether it's medications, vitamins, or other treatments, we are always in that percentage of the treatment population that the treatment does not work?
No, I have not had the botox treatment.

Re: Botox Study Results
I tried to go to the web site on the botox article, but something was wrong.
I just want to write because I did the botox injections. I had them done 3 times by my neurologist. All I got was such awful pain in my neck, I could barely turn my head for about 4 days, I did get some relief from the headaches for about 2 days. Finally my neuro decided it wasn't working for me. And he denied that the neck pain was from the botox. I disagree. I have never had the pain before, nor ever again after...
Hope this helps......

Re: Botox Study Results
Here is what the doctor stated:
March 20th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
"Botox works for about 70% of patients with chronic migraine headaches. It appears to work even for people with rebound (medication overuse) headaches. And, of course, it works for people who think they have chronic sinus headaches because most of them have chronic migraines. It’s important to try Botox two or three times in a row since each subsequent treatment has been shown to provide better relief than the previous one. So, if the first one gives minimal relief, the next one may be better and the third one better still. A small percentage of people obtain complete relief of all of their headaches after the first treatment."

Botox Again
My neuro is trying Botox on me again in 10 days....we'll see.
I agree with the post about us always seeming to be the exception to the rule...ugh. I'm trying to have hope.

Pilot57,
did you get any relief from the first set of injections? Just curious.

No Results
No. I had Botox done many years ago when it first came out. But we are out of options....so I'll try anything again as I've been in the ER twice in the last 2 weeks.

Re: Botox Study Results
That is awful! E.R. stinks! Been there many times myself. I have toridal shots I can give at home that keep me home. Thank God.
Well, I hope you are one of the 70% that the botox helps.... you need a breakthrough.

Botox ER
Well thank you for the good wishes!
I used to use Torodol and DHE injections at home, too, but they aren't working any more. I hope that I can use the current ER cocktail at home soon. I hate going to the ER!
I'm glad Torodol works for you. It is so frustrating when things stop working!
