melatonin for migraine
New Medscape article: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/781465?src=wnl_edit_medn_wir&uac=142709SZ&spon=34
The article says that melatonin works as well as Elavil/amitriptyline for responders ( people who get a benefit from a drug), but that more migraineurs respond to melatonin than Elavil.
That's exciting news. I was a responder to Elavil - it cut my migraines about in half but I couldn't handle the side effects. AFAIK, melatonin has minimal side effects.
The article said timing was important, that the melatonin needed to be taken between 10 and 11 pm and needed to be the fast acting type.
Anybody here get relief from melatonin?

getting rid of Elavil
I have been taking Elavil for awhile and the side effects are unpleasant and it does nothing to help the migraines, so I switched it out for melatonin. I had taken melatonin in the past to help me sleep and had success with it, I am pretty excited about making this switch..
