My Migraine
My fellow "Migrainers" I'm new to the forum.
I would like to explain my migrain expeirences and ask for your input. I am 56 years old. I didn't get my first migraine until I was 48 years old. I laid down to take a nap in the afternoon and woke up with th worst headache I have ever had for approximately 4 to 5 weeks. I went to 4 or 5 different type doctors over the course of this 4 to 5 weeks. In the meantime, a neurologist prescribed Hydrocodone/Apap for the pain that I took one in the morning and one in the afternoon just to be able to go to work and make it back home to lay down. Finally the headaches went away after about 2 months. Then after about a years I started getting a dizzy sensation in the back of my head that would created a kinda of state of mild confusion that would last anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. These episodes would come on about every couple of months as time went by these episodes began to come on closer and closer until after 3 or 4 years I began getting them almost everyday and they last longer. So finally about a year and a half ago I began my search through the usual web of doctors to try and find some help.
First I just can't come to terms that why I never had a migraine or a headache until the age of 48 and now they are part of my life. What caused it? My migraines are more of the dizzines in the back of my head leading to vision issues in my left eye and then a pressure type headache. Also, I forgot to mention I acquired tinnitus after my first episode of headaches. I am currently taking 100 mg of Zonegram in the morning and 100 mg in the evening. Seems to work fairly well. Still have the pressure but not the pain as much.
As I look back at the initital episode I wonder could I have caught something like meningitis.
I appreciate anyone's time to read my migraine history and provide and comments that would be helpful. I pray that you will receive relief from your pain.

Re: My Migraine
Hello praying for hope. Welcome to our forum, you will find encouragement here and the comfort of knowing you are not alone. Migraines seem to have many triggers and some of us know ours and some are still hunting. Sadly there are often multiple triggers. Mine seems to be hormone level shifts and perhaps that is the reason why yours began at age 48 when hormone levels definitely are changing for a woman. Some of us have found strict diet control helps to some degree. I do hope and pray that you can soon find answers and that your migraines will be at the very least mitigated.

Re: My Migraine
I also had no problems with headaches at all until I was 46, following a problem with a bulging disk. But I think the hormone shifts of peri menopause had a lot to do with it. Natural hormones have been the only thing that has helped.
I also acquired hyperaccusis along the way, I think following one of the meds my nuero prescribed as a preventative. Many of them can cause tinnitus which is related.
So if it helps you are not alone.
