DHE 45 Injections at home

Has anyone had the DHE 45 injections? I just went to a new dr. in Buffalo N.Y. and he wants me to try the injections at home. 3 days at 3 times a day. I have suppositories for nausea. He said I will get cramping in my legs also.

help,, anybody had this treatment? Should I try it?

I'd be weary just because of what I've read and been told. Because of the side effects, they are best done in a controlled environment such as the hospital. Just did that last week, and even with the nausea meds, I still threw up after each dose.

I guess you have to try it to see how it works for you though.

Did you take in as a pain reliever in place of the triptans? Or to get out of a cycle of migraines? How many days did you take it?

I took it to get out of a cycle. I took it for 2 days....3 times a day, well every 8 hours...

Thanks, I will probably only use it when all else fails. The steroid pac I just did worked really good. I have been pain free for a week now. That is so exciting!

So glad you've been pain free!

My migraine returned Sunday night, I've started a new medication called Diamox to lower spinal pressure, hopefully it will work.

Similar medication to Topomax.

Pain free was short lived. It's back today. Oh, well, at least I have a good weekend for a change.

I use DHE injections with pretty good success. I use it 2-3 times a week and take a promethazine tablet prior to doing the injection.

I have not had leg cramps, but only occasionally I will have restless legs after an injection.

Triptans quit working for me, so I'm happy with DHE for the time being. I usually feel a bit nauseous after an injection but not so bad. I'm just thankful that it works to take away the pain for awhile. It usually works best if I'm able to sleep a little bit after an injection.

I'm not sure when I will use it now. My neuro started me back on another week of steroid. As soon as I quit taking it, the headpain came back, no migraine, but headpain.

At least I will have the dhe, for when I run into a problem again.
