Re: B12 injections
Never tried the injections. I take the pill form, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Re: B12 injections
i'm just now considering different vitamins to try to help with this headache. What other ones do people suggest? I don't take any right now. I'm 28 and male.

B12 hasn't helped with the migraines but it is important for overall general health. You especially need extra B12 if you are taking stomach medication like Prilosec (Omeprazole). But don't take my word for it. Look it up.

400 mg magnesium
5000 mg vitamin D
12.5 mg iodide
4 omega-3
This is working well for my brother as well as myself.

Re: B12 injections
You can get them all in pill form over the counter which is good because I really hate needles. I took the magnesium and B2 for about 6 months with no benefit. In my case I got immediate results when I added in the other supplements. I order mine online from www.omega-1000.com
I found their formulations to be better than I got at the health food store.

Re: B12 injections
Hi,
I was treated for B12 deficiency many years ago. I went through a large panel of tests and no reason could be found. I was first injected weekly until my levels returned to normal then monthly. For the last couple of years I have self treated with a vit B12 pill daily 1000MCG, I get my B12 checked now and again and they are high normal.
Couple of points re B12. The only type of pill the body can absorb and use easily is Methylocobalamin, not many health shops sell this type. You can not over dose as far as I am aware, the body will expel excess. I had things like twitches in my muscles and poor ST memory, both of these have vanished after taking one tab a day. In the UK they are now considering using B12 to avert the onset of Alzheimer's. As for helping with migraines I am not so sure however it does seen to help with some of the symptoms often associated with migraines like ST memory loss and twitching muscles. My personal thoughts are it can't hurt and as we get older we need anything that will support our nervous system. But as I mentioned not all B12 Vits are the same only Methylocobalamin, can easily be adsorbed. The daily maintenance level is 1000MCG. I know in the USA you can easily buy this type of B12 but here in the UK it is not so easy.

Re: B12 injections
No vitamins or minerals I have ever tried did anything for migraines. I gave up on this stuff. All these supplements also cost a fortune. I eat a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, olive oil, fish and lean meat. I don't drink alcohol, tea and coffee (for obvious reasons) and I don't smoke. As a matter of fact I lead a disgustingly healthy life (besides a weakness of Apfelstrudel). Why do I still get migraines?

Petzi - I lead a very healthy life also. It got to the point where I ran out of things to change to make it better. Since it didn't work I treat myself to alcohol, chocolate or whatever when I want with no consequences. I just do what I want now. Fortunately, healthy living is what my body is used to now so I haven't changed much. Just don't deny anything anymore.

Re: B12 injections
That is a good approach. For a long time I thought that it was my fault that I am getting these headaches. Surely I must be doing something wrong to trigger those headaches. Now I don't deny myself anything anymore. I am lucky that I prefer healthy things as opposed to unhealthy ones, but if I want that chocolate or that ice cream I will have it.

Hi,
I agree a healthy diet is important, and normally extra vitamins etc are not needed.
The problem comes when the body gets sick for whatever reason, then it is not able to cope even with a good diet. If you are low in Vit B12 it would be almost impossible to bring your B12 level back to normal by eating foods rich in B12, you would just need too much, this is when extra vitamins play there part. B12 has never helped with my head pain but it has helped with outher symptoms brought on by the Migraines.
