Help.....bow tie or long tie with tuxedo?
I know, old school is to wear a bow tie (no clip ons, lol). Some say wear a black tie (like the guy i buy my suits from). I have the tux, I have the shirt, and I bought the (black) tie--but still, I think I should wear a bow tie. The owner of the shop says tie, but the tailor (old school from Italy) says bow tie.
What say you, and this is an evening event....not quite black tie, but a lot of people show in tuxes. I've gone this far in the game....whadddya think?

I might have watched too many 007 movies but I say - bow tie
I dunno Marc - try either one and choose what looks better on you.
Although that might be a pickle as well since on a stud like you either will look just equally great. hmmmmm choices choices...

I have a preference for ties. I think they look sexier than bowties, but i'm young so it depends on the croud.

ties
Marc,
I'll think I'll leave that to the folks who have style and good taste. Certainly that's not me.

I think either will look fantabulous. Just being cleaned up and dressed in a suit/tux makes a guy look great. Go with whichever one you will feel most comfortable in.

Bow tie for an older man. Tie for a younger man
Bow tie if it is the host or MC. Tie if it is for a guest.
Bow tie if you want to stand out from the crowd.

Personally, I like bow ties with tuxes, but either is appropriate and will look good, I'm sure.

Too Late
I know you will look fabulous and have women all over you no matter what you wear.
But for future reference:
Wear a bow tie with a tux. (dinner jacket, cummerbund, etc.)
French cuffs are cool - you get to collect cuff links! LOL

You looked great, Marc.
On a side note, I find it hilarious that we're up to 2 pages on a post about ties.

Re: Help.....bow tie or long tie with tuxedo?
LOL, thanks....it is pretty funny that we have 2 pages about ties. next year i'll get a bow tie (and hopefully i'll have that tux pulled in a few sizes).
the ball had it's fun points. nothing like dodging ex-girlfriend's parents makes the evening more exciting (outside of Grey Goose and Jim Beam).
i did have one encounter--i ran into, yes you should laugh, an ex-girlfriend from 4th and 8th grade. 4th grade we passed notes, 8th grade we went to dances.
anyways, this girl is someone that i'll always remember. there are always a very few in our lives that can give you butterflies and shoot up your heart rate, and this girl is one of them.
i was laughing away at our table, as there was a slow-dance (blah)... i saw her, i think she's married. she kept staring at me. good gosh, maybe i should have had some of Captain Morgan's spirit. i didn't talk to her.
this is the same girl i posted about a while back--the girl i ran into at the grocery store. we both saw each other, stared, and just passed each other...not saying a thing.
