Heidi, welcome to our forum. I am so pleased you have found us. I still remember how exited I was when (several years ago) I've discovered it myself.
Over the years this forum has been my lifesaver, lifting my spirits, learning that M is not static, that it keeps changing, sometimes it gets better, then there are more difficult times. Sometimes it changes in character.
We all discover some new solutions by trial and error, and by finding right doctors and treatments we learn to deal with triggers, finding what they are. It all helped me so much.
Keep reading older posts, and keep visiting. us.

Dianne I am always amazed that you still go to work with M all the time. I know you have no choice, and that you did, and do everything to help yourself. You mention that you use two triptans, which is the other one (apart from amerge)?

I stumbled onto this site today and wow, what a wealth of knowledge and experience. I am on my way to a neurologist for the first time today. Experienced a Migraine that lasted 4 weeks in January. I use Relpax and when it works, it lasts about 24 - 36 hours. During this migraine, it barely lasted 24 hours. Then it got to the point that even with 2 Relpax pills and a high dose Vicoden the pain did not go away. (I too have a bottle of Vicoden with 2 pills left that was issued to me back in 2013! The emergency remedy!) It actually scared me!

Have had migraines for about 20 years now. It is an inherited issue. Until finding this board I had pretty much lived with the assumption that it was a "this is the hand you've been dealt - so find a way to live with it" thing. I am looking forward to spending more time reading posts and seeing if I can find new ways to prevent them and/or treat them. Looking forward to conversing with people who understand. Smile

joliet: Welcome! I'm glad you are finally seeing a neuro. Are they a general neuro or do they actually specialize in headaches? There are definitely many treatment options...no one should have to suffer more than absolutely necessary. I hope you find something helpful soon. Best wishes.

Sorry to hear you are stuggling. What a terrible feeling. I went in and out of very dark hopeless periods throughout my life and understand how frustrating the never-ending migraine can be. Have you ever thought about seeing a mental health professional for treating depression? I am amazed by how quickly modern meds have changed my outlook, which is about 25% of the migraine battle.

I hear you about the metaxalone, Im in the same boat. I just take it when I need it, but it can help some and its not too strong ie it doesn't knock you out. I have to get a refill soon, I usually just I get like a 1/2 script at a time because of the cost.

Sorry yo hear you're struggling. Hang in there!
