weird experience- trouble understanding others- advice
Hi All,
Tonight, I had a pretty scary experience. I was talking to my roommate and, suddenly, I couldn't understand her. I knew she was speaking English, but it sounded like a foreign language to me. I could talk, but it was weird then I passed out. When I came to, I still had some trouble understanding her, but not as much. I was, however- very scared. My roommate was scared as the same thing happened to her before a grand mal seizure. I took some klonopin. Her mom came by. I recovered fairly quickly.
I am not sure what to do anymore. I will call both neuro and GP tomorrow. I have had trouble speaking, trouble reading, but never trouble understanding before now. it is just so frustrating. The good news is that the pain is down. the bad news is that the migraine is still around and scarier than ever.
Anyone else experience this?
Pain free days,

My friend experienced this and went to the doctor, an MRI showed a benign tumor that had likely been there since she was a child. I'm sure you've had MRIs before though.

weird experience - trouble understanding others
Sorry you had to go through this sailing muffin. I have experienced something similar. It started a bit alice in wonderlandish and everything seemed a bit abstract, until my husband was saying things to me that sounded familiar but I couldn't understand him. I could think answers in pictures of what I wanted to say but couldn't speak and kept trying to draw them with my right hand. All I could do was scream. It was horrible. I spoke to the doctor the next day and they said it was still migraine.
I hope you don't get this again. I'd run it by your specialist to be certain what it was.
best wishes
Di

I had this happen the first time at about age 35. It is very scary. I saw my GP the next morning and then a migraine/neurologist the day after. It is just one more part of my migraines. He did an MRI for both tumors and a full vascular study. My family has a history of stroke. All was clean which was good and bad. I almost wished there was something and it could be fixed.
See your doctor. Make sure it truly is just a migraine.
