Good clinics
hey all,
As many of you have read I've had symptoms since December 2010 (while travelling overseas) that include chronic bacterial infections, stinging eyes, neck pain, chronic fatigue, tonsillitis, and headache/ head pain. While specialists are looking at my symptoms as separate from one another depending on their specialty, I still feel strongly that everything is related considering they started at the same time.
I really feel that something is going on in my body that causing me to always be sick, or something that is interfering with my body's ability to recover- whatever it is my symptoms just continue to get worse.
I've had a lot of lab work done (Infectious Disease Specialist, ENT doc, Immunolgist, CT Scan, MRI, etc), and as far as treatment I'm really going in cirlcles with the doctors at this point. I can't continue the "just throw pills at the pain problem" approach.
I'm looking for a clinic that uses a variety of approaches to look at causation. I'm in SC and willing to travel, spend a month somewhere, whatever it takes. Any suggestions?

Good Clinics
Hi Benji,
I found the Calgary Headache Clinic in Alberta, Canada to be a really excellent treatment facility. I have also travelled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and found that the doctor there really didn't give me any new information. The Calgary Headache Clinic seemed to have a really comprehensive approach and Dr. Becker, the head neurologist, was fantastic.
Hope you find the answers you're looking for...

benji, i'm really hoping that more people will answer your query re: good clinics. it would be an expensive deal to travel to alberta, yet that response sounds like a possibility to check out.

Yes. Was hoping for a bit more input on this topic.
However, clinic in Alberta gives me a good starting point!

I have heard really good things about this doctor:

I know a few of his patients who really like him. He doesn't give up very easily, according to them.

I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina until I was 22. I saw Dr. Whooten there at that clinic since I was a child and first started getting migraines. I can't say I liked him too much but then again I automatically dislike most doctors. He sure didn't give up easily, that is true. He is the one who helped me find Frova, the only rescue med that works for me. He eventually refered me to a Duke pain clinic around the age of 19 or 20. Looks like he doesn't practice there anymore, according to their staff page.

Re: Good clinics
It is Dr. Matthews who gets the good reviews. The people I know who see him are "tough" cases, and they think so highly of him.

Good to know, maybe I could get an appointment with him when I visit my family in Raleigh!
