Congratulations! It must be a relief to have it taken care of. I've also heard that even when you have a legitimate reason for needing disability, it often takes 2 or 3 rounds to get it to happen. Your persistence paid off.

Like everything else, it is the abusers that ruin it for people in need.

Hearty congratulations! isn't it great when one gets exactly what one deserves! My most hearty parise for your persistence and stamina. Well Done!
Re: closed closed
Keeping politics out of it - congratulations. This must be a huge relief for you and a load off your mind. Now you can focus on your health and the things that matter to you instead of on battling disability. That's great!

Congrats!
Congratulations!
It can't be an easy decision to apply for disability benefits. Then you go through hell to be approved. I hope this makes it easier for you to continue pursuing a good preventive and overall Migraine management regimen.
Hopefully, this won't happen to you, but a friend of mine found herself becoming depressed after being approved for disability benefits. It was as if that benefits approval made it sink home to her that she is disabled. If that happens you you, please talk to your online friends or seek some counseling?
Congrats again!
Teri

Re: closed closed
Excellent point, Teri. when I got my "the USA determines you to be disabled" letter that explained my benefits, all I saw was "disabled". I wanted the benefits, I fought for the benefits, but seeing THAT word was like a kick in the teeth. Be prepared and deal with your feelings responsibly. Again, congratulations.

I'm feeling another victory for those of us in Chiari World! You persisted, and you won! For all the struggles you have gone through with Chiari and brain pain--Congratulations, dear Susan!

I know exactly what you mean, Teri, Richard. I was upset after I lost my job in July, but I sat down and cried when I got the letter saying I qualified for unemployment. When I qualified for public assistance because I lost my unemployment, I cried even harder. I think I felt worse then, than when they took the public assistance away because I got my unemployment back!
Such a mixed bag of emotions.
The best thing is that you can focus on your health, and I hope things look up for you soon. Remember, there is nothing wrong with receiving help. <HUGS>

Re: closed closed
My husband is an attorney that appeals many disability cases.
It is very, very common to be denied on the first application. You
wouldn't believe the cases he has had with first time denials.
Good attorneys can make sure the information you include
on your appeal is what the judges want. And usually payment
comes out of your award.

You deserve it
Congrats,
I tried three times and had several other health issues on top of the migraine. In Oklahoma, it is almost unheard of to get SSDI with only migraine. That really sucks.
I'm happy for you. It does relieve alot of stress to have it.

Thank goodness, Susan. I'm so happy for you.
I just recently was approved too, and it is a mixed bag of gratitude and grief over lost dreams.

Safe here?
Even on this forum, there are snoops. Maybe government snoops or just those that would like to cause trouble. I think an apology for speaking out of place would be an nice jesture, Riley.
As far as I know, there hasn't been anyone pretending to be something they are not. Most of the people on this forum are seriously disabled from migraines and it seems our government and alot of others in our lives just won't take it seriously. Only one that suffers from this invisible disabillity could really understand.
