Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
I have not had anyone press on my head and I do not do it for myself, either. I prefer to be left alone, no touching at all.
Shakil, have you ever tried oxygen? It's probably not something you can easily obtain. People with cluster headaches (which is related to migraine) breathe oxygen from an oxygen tank for relief.
I worry about you often. It's good to hear from you.

I'm glad you have tried oxygen. Sorry it doesn't help your migraine.
Do you use your inhaler often? Is there a chance it is causing your migraines?

I use inhaler for to correct my breath. it is only for breath correctness. In my case inhaler does not effect for migraine pain. I do not know other people use inhaler for migraine? Do you use inhaler? Leslie you did not press your head to reduce the pain ? Is there side effect to press the head? I have only one side effect that my head size became like a child head because from 50 years I am or my family pressing my head. Do you agree me that in severe severe migraine pain patient is like a ALIVE dead body at that time? Oh my God it is very terrible pain. Shakil Ahmad

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
I've tried to read through all the posts but don't know if I've got all the information. Shakil, you say your vision is getting bad and there is head pain. Do you have pain elsewhere too? Do you ever get numbness eg feet? I read what you said about struggling for breath when exerting yourself and it struck me that you could have pernicious anemia ie B12 deficiency.

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
Dear Marco 1968, I am only head pain.Due to head pain I am ZERO at pain time otherwise I am the healthiest man on the earth. Due to this head pain I cou ld not participate in Olympics. In Asian Games Tehran 1974 12 hour ago from my compitition there was severe headach . My coach asked me not to take part. But after 8 hours I was fully fit to take part. I want to say that migraine effect only that time when you feel pain. after pain migraine patient feels himself 100% fit . It is my observation.
+. I do not know you and other migraine patient feel themselves 100% or not. There should be web cam on this page so the people can talk each others and share their experiments, observations, experiences and knowledge. Shakil Ahmad

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
Hi Shakil,
I have never found that pressing on my head helps at all. I have heard that other people get relief from it, though.
Are you saying that your head is smaller than it used to be? If so, that is not normal. That could be a very big problem.
I don't know what else to suggest since you don't have a doctor to help you. Could you go to India perhaps? Maybe there is a doctor there who could help?

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
Your English is much better than my ability in any other language you speak, so please don't worry about it at all. You are getting your thoughts across and making more sense than some native speakers I've had the displeasure to run into.
If your head and skull are smaller or more oblong (stretched) than it was years ago, you need to stop pressing. I know it gives a bit of relief, but if you skull is becoming misshapen, that could be making the migraines worse. I am not a physician, but I have some medical training, and it takes a great deal of effort to misshape the skull, so if that's what's happened, that could be part of the problem.
If you have the ability to go somewhere with better medical facilities, I think it's time for you to try to do so. I know you've exhausted any local resources, and not had any relief or success. I'm not sure where to recommend you try to go, but somewhere with an good reputation for medicine and medical knowledge.

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
Sara thankyou for backup me for my English. Now I am no worry about my English language. My old teens friends when meet me and they see my face , they ask me what happend to you. I tell them it is all due to migraine. you are right that pressing give little bit of relief. Inj. of marpheen And other injunctions like this (pain killer) also give relief for some time. I noted that some time cold sweet water 2 to 4 glass give some relief. it is some time but not for ever. When I take dinner at the time of sunset I feel my self some better at morning time {low level of migraine). Now science is so high why scientist could not find the cure of migraine?????. Shakil

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
Shakil, if the beta blockers are helping, I'm thinking that ice packs might also help you. I get much relief from ice packs and use them throughout the day almost every day. I would recommend using them in place of the the pressure being place on your head. The ice tends to have a numbing effect on the pain and constricts the blood vessels.
I've followed your posts the past several weeks and hope you can find some help by seeking help from doctors outside of Pakistan, if that is possible. Please let us know if there is anything we can help with to make that possible for you.
I haven't been on this site very frequently lately, but I do check in occasionally, so I wish you the best. Please take care.

I have been away from this site for a long time. I have just read your story, and my heart goes out to you. I understand some of how you feel. I am a man of 56 years old from Michigan in the U.S. I have also had migraines that got worse as I got older. I am now unable to work due to the migraines. I have near daily migraines, with some days better than others. It is hard to find doctors who want to treat migraine patients here in the United States who have been sufferers for a long time, as we have all been trying to find something to help and have almost all been to many, many doctors and clinics. Many of us have tried many different drugs. For some like me, the only thing that works is pain medication, and something for stomach sickness. Now it is getting hard to find a doctor who will prescribe those types of medications for migraine. I wish you well, and can only pray that you are able to find something that will help you. And I also wish you peace and safety in the world as it has become a dangerous place no matter where one lives.

Re: WILL I DIE DUE TO MIGRAINE?
Hi pigpen, I'm in Florida, so my advice is going to be more general than if I was familiar with your state. If you don't already, keep a migraine diary. It can be as simple as a calendar onto which you indicate the days you have a migraine attack. Perhaps you could write the letter M on those days, assign a color for the M which would indicate the pain level (yellow for mild, blue for medium, red for severe, and purple for the absolute worst pain ever). Being able to show a record of the frequency & intensity has, in my experience, impressed my doctor much more than my trying to verbally express the past month's frequency and pain levels. It also demonstrates your committment to addressing your pain.
You should also be prepared to tell your doctor what it is you expect of him. If you want something to reduce their frequency, he'd probably prescribe a maintenance drug (a drug you take daily even if you're not suffering that day. It will be trial and error for a while before you find which med wtorks for you). Your number one wish is to avoid having to seek care at the Emergeyncy Room. If pain and/or nausea-vomiting are what bring you to seek emergency care, then having prescriptions that address your symtoms sufficiently, will help keep you out of the ER.
I had to go through many doctors before I found the one who made it his job to ease my suffering. We moved to Florida in 2000 and it took 3.5 years to find my neurologist/pain specialist. Before that, I went to 4 doctors who treated me but not to my satisfaction.
I've made some assumptions about your situation by sharing mine. Hopefully, you got a few ideas. I truly hope you have healthcare as this can get quite expensive.
Feel free to respond. I should get notification if you do. There are others who have wisdom to share. Migraine disorder has a way of creating compassionate, educated people.
