Imitrex Dosage

New to the site. I have been diagnosed with migraines for 15 years. My best relief comes from Imitrex injections and pills. I was getting 48 injections and 54 pills every 90 days. This prescription came from 4 different physicians over time. Recently my last doctor moved and I had to get a new doctor. He won't prescribe that many medications, says I am having rebound headaches. I know a migraine, and get relief from the imitrex. Anyone else have problems with misdiagnosis and prescription problems.

My doctor won't let me take that many imitrex either. He will give me pain medication though. I have had rebound headaches, but I don't get them with my current meds. They feel different to me. I believe my doctor is more concerned about imitrex's long term effects than rebound. I can't take it more than 2 times in 24 hours and no more than 2 days a week. I can take up to 3-4 doses of my pain meds daily if needed though.

Tell the doctor you have had medication holiday and the M and headaches were more severe with no meds.
