linked to thyroid thread but about vit D and recovery.
I found the comment about low vit D and poor thyroid performance really interesting and had a question but didn't want to take the tread off at a tangent, so hope nobody minds this extra one on a similar subject.
My vit D is low, as I mentioned in a previous post. I have signs of poor thyroid function and could sleep most of the time if I wanted to.
So here is my question.
For those of you who have been taking vitamin D, what was it like going back to the correct levels?
Did you for intance have for a few weeks more migraines as your brain got used to the higher levels of serotonin and other things that the body wasn't producing enough of?
How long did all of this process take?
At the end when your vitamin D levels were back to normal, did you have to deal with hormones and mood swings?
Can the deficiency in itself be the root of the migraines, or is it something that has to be treated alogside them to reduce the effect?
Should I be perhaps helping my thyroid function with other medication, or even herbal medicine, like Sea Kelp?
Many thanks in anticipation.

Di, after a week and a half, of being on the Vit D program, I started to sleep better and the chronic daily headache went to a lower level, a level that I could barely feel. If it did go up to a higher level, it went away quickly after laying down or resting.
However, after about 5 weeks, the not enough restful sleep and waking up early patterns started again. As did the higher headache pain levels.
My Vitamin D program is 50,000 IU for 12 weeks. This is the 12th week.

About thyroid issues ask your doc to run a full Thyroid panel. Not just a TSH.
My TSH is normal but my T4's are low. I have taken synthroid several times before but this time I have had irregular heart rates. Felt faint, chest hurt. The only difference this time is I have an estrogen patch, total hys. with ovaries removed.
The endocrinologist kept upping my dose til I ccould barely walk. My hair did quit falling out though..
With a normal TSh but low T4's it is called secondary hypothyroidism and is usually caused by a brain tumor. Didn't find one thank God.

After starting the vitamin D and iodide, I started feeling more energetic. Mostly just not as fatigued and draggy as I had been. No side effects noted.

This is very interesting many thanks
I note that the dosage of vitamin D prescribed is huge compared to the amount that is given to me. I wonder if the doc is giving me enough then?
It is encouraging to hear those of you that are feeling some susess with pursuing this, I was beginning to lose hope.
Thankyou for your replies, it is really appreciated.

I am not sure how much D you are taking. I take 5000 mg per day.
I had my blood levels checked recently after about 10 months at that dosage,
And my blood levels were in the normal range, so I guess that has not been too much.

That seems like a very low dosage. Did a doctor put you on that?
The plan I read from Dr Jones said 5000/day.
