feverfew for migraine
Anybody have any success w/ Feverfew or w/ any other herbal medications for treating/preventing migraine??
Re: feverfew for migraine
I know feverfew is suppose to help, but it did not help me at all, in fact at the time I thought it made it even worse.
There is also something else, called Petadolex, that you might like to investigate further but I have no personal experince of it. Maybe if you search on internet you can find more information about it.

the neuro I saw recommended I try a combo of fever few, petadox, and magnesium. It didn't work for me, but she called me a difficult case, so I guess it works better for most people than it did for me

My mother is trying to get me to try feverfew and Petadolex.
I know I tried both years ago but cannot remember how they affected me.
Guess I will have to try them again and see what happens.
Can you get those at the Health Food Store?
Thanks.

Re: feverfew for migraine
brenda, i think it's one of those things that SHOULD work, but does not, in most cases. the doctors are fond of saying that it does work, and then when it doesn't do a thing for a particular patient, they label us "difficult". that makes us think, even if subsconsciously, that we are somehow defective....
i have tried all, including petadolex, with no success. i don't think i'm unusual in this. of course, we need to remember that those of us who come to this forum are usually the intractable cases, and most of us have had doctors give up on us, because they have nothing else in their arsenal.
feverfew can be bought at health food stores, but petadolex is online. there is a much cheaper brand which is supposed to be just as good. i forget the name just now; somebody will be able to fill you in if you decide to order it. why not do a search for it on here, and you will likely be able to find old discussions of this.

I have some friends I met at MHNI (Michigan Head and Neurological Institute) while we were hospitalized for migraines that now take feverfew and think it helps. For me though, it made me VERY anxious.

Petadolex did not do anything for me. As to feverfew, it started giving a sore in my mouth and stomach problems.

I tried Petodolax and ended up with bad diahrea so i had to quit it. Not sure if it was the cause, but I couldn't think of anything else it would have been.
