Has anybody got an arura while you were sleeping?

I woke up at 3am this morning with an arura. This was so weird because I`ve never had one while I was sleeping. I usually do advil and coffee but not at 3am so I went back to sleep. When I got up this morning, I did Advil and coffee. We`ll see if it even takes the edge off. I was wondering when it was going to hit since I haven`t had an arura in 3 months.

My migraines are mostly made up of aura symptoms and sometimes I will wake up dreaming that I had some of my aura symptoms and feeling hung over like I do after a migraine........so I assume that while part of my brain was sleeping the other part was partying with my auras.

It hasn't happened more than 3 or 4 times, but yes, I have had an aura come on while sleeping. Annoying, a bit frightening, and bizarre. I have wondered a few times if it was the onset of a stroke, but each time it turned out to be just a regular aura.

I've been sleeping having dreams where the dreams get blurry and I see tracers in my vision, like I do when a migraine coming on. I wake up with a migraine. Weird - I'm thinking the visual disturbances must be in the part of the brain where we "see" things, rather than in the initial visual processing part, so we see visual aura both when it's live and when it's memorex.

I noted a while back that when I had a scotoma aura (hole in my vision) I could see the scotoma both with my eyes open and shut. Maybe the same thing.

I sometimes have dreams that I am having aura. It's only when the headache slams in that I wake up and realise that the aura was really happening and was just being played out in my dreams!

The headache in this situation is always really bad for me as I need to take meds at first indication it is coming.

Definitely - I can remember dreaming I was in an art gallery and my aura was just drifting across the paintings. It was really strange because I found it quite peaceful and pretty... until I woke up and the pain kicked in!
