Just had an arura
Just had an arura. It was so fun.... Love that feeling of not being in control...How long does it take to see normaly after the zig zags? It`s been taking me a good 15-20 min after the zig zags to see clearly. I hate this feeling of feeling like I`m not all here. What really sucks is that lately when I have aruras, I`ve had a bad headache for days. It use to be not like that. So I hope I get lucky this time.

Re: Just had an arura
First....it's aura....not arura. Sorry, I am persnickety with spelling.
I have never heard anyone claim that they are fun because they are often followed by a migraine head ache.
I have only had one or two in my entire life and they weren't zig zags....more like little water droplets on my field of vision. I don't know how long it takes for them to process.
I hope you avoid the pain.

I was being sarcastic. Course they`re not fun. They are foul. Can`t believe that you took me seriously... I`ve been suffering with these things for a long time. I don`t care if I spelt arura wrong... Seems pretty petty to me.

Re: Just had an arura
usually takes me about 30 minutes to see normal after the zig zags start. Very annoying. And sometimes I get a migraine after them and sometimes I don't. My head feels strange for the rest of the day though - even if I don't get the headache. Makes my head feel heavy or something. Yuck.

Re: Just had an arura
Sorry to say, but sometimes I have them through out the entire migraine. They change up
for me. I get tunnel vision, stripes, zig zags, droplets. Eck. I also get disoriented too.
Sometimes they go away and come back. Most of the time they go away within 15-30 minutes
though. Hope you feel better.

Re: Just had an arura
Kate,
Sorry you are having a rough time. I get aura with almost all of my migraines. They change from shadows, flashing lights, zig zags, grey cell-like floaters, tunnell vision, loss of vision in one eye, out of body/dejavu feelings, etc. Usually they last 15-30 mins then the head pain...BUT I do not always get the headache (doc calls it Migraine without Headache). So complicated isn't it all??
Hope you feel better!

Re: Just had an arura
Kate,
I'm feeling MUCH better today, thanks
I had posted on my thread that I think it was the smell of fried chicken that triggered my
horrible migraine yesterday. I'm still concerned about the aura being on a different side than
the pain, but I'm going to speak to my neuro about it at my next appointment. I see him
every month since I'm on narcotics so I don't have long to wait.
I almost always have some headache going on, but i'm extremely grateful for days like
today. It's down to a 1-2 on the pain scale and that I can certainly handle. I also
refilled my generic topamax and got different a different generic brand! Weird!
I think that could also have contributed to my weird migraine last night. I'll be
speaking to Doc Genius about that, too LOL.
Man I wish I could get him to prescibe me the vicodin my father in law gets but I don't
think he would ever. They are 10/325's and are STRONG! They are EXCELLENT for
extreme pain though. Just when you think you need to go to the hospital, if you take one
of those, 95% of the time it works. Good stuff! Knocks me on my butt, though
Hope your feeling well and your aura went away with no migraine following. Keep us posted!

Re: Just had an arura
the aura being on different side to the pain is completely normal so don't worry. I experience it too, though if it's new for you, it's best to get checked out. My aura ranges from 20 mins to 8 hours!! Joy!! (that was sarcasm too) and is then followed by pins and needles and muscle spasms, then the horror headache.

Re: Just had an arura
When I get an aura it last usually 20-30 minutes. On the rare occasion, I get multiple auras.... one right after the other for a couple of hours. And the headache is horrendous! Strangely, the migraines with auras although they hurt worse, are relatively shorter than the ones without auras. I'm on day two of this one and this is the fourth migraine in a week. I hate the winter!! Summer can't come fast enough.

Re: Just had an arura
Kate, Now that I read your post again, the sarcasm is crystal clear. I don't know where my brain was at the time. Maybe it was my version of aura? I don't see things, I just misread things?
Didn't mean to offend you. Sorry about that.
