men and chroni migraine
Hello all
I just wanted to post and ask if there are any men here with chronic migraine? I have been diagnosed with "hermicrania continua" back in april which is a migraine/cluster variant. I see many women suffer from chronic migraine and just wanted to see and hear from men also with this condition.
Thanks all hope all is well
Anthony

I'm with ya!
I've been having migraines for about 8 years now, with no cure in sight. I lost my last two jobs because of these damn things and right now I cannot see myself working anytime soon. As a man I feel humiliated as I cannot contribute to the household income, and as you know we define ourselves by what we do.

I also have chronic headaches (for the past three and a half years), luckily (?) they started after I retired. I believe that they are due muscle stiffness that is caused by 17 years of statins and before that 2 to 3 years of niacin.
The headaches have receded after many sessions of PT. I am now trying acupuncture, I had my first session last Friday.

men and chronic M
I started having M at 39. Two times a week. In a year I had daily head ache with M 4 -5 times a week. early on I had scripts I may not
have tried long enough. And then I also tried all the standards you read about on here. You will see what works or helps for some does
nothing for others. I had M for 6.5 years I got some relief from 5 -hpt. For nine months I have taken clonodine 3 x day. I have had
almost complete relief right away. So I hope it continues and hope you find some relief soon.

Not chronic
I started getting really bad migraines in my mid-30s. I had no idea what they were-I thought maybe a brain tumor. Very neurological and disabling. I finally went to a doctor and eventually got diagnosed with atypical migraine. Quite a relief, considering.
But I was getting 3 or more bad migraines a week, each one knocking me out of commission for 6 hours or so. Luckily, about half happened on my weekends. Still, a real problem with my job.
Years of treatment, most unsuccessful. Finally found a drug that works for me and now I only get an occasional migraine.
Best of luck to you, I know how tough it can be.

Re: men and chroni migraine
I was diagnosed with chronic migraine in early 2005. Nothing much has helped and I've been off work since last December and had 8 months off back in 2004/5. Sorry to hear you have this too but welcome to the fold!

I personaly know a man who deals with chronic m and clusters. He works everyday but has to take pain meds to be able to cope with them. I don`t know how he does it because his job is physical.
