Weight goes up, with migraine.
I have noticed that if I get a migraine break.
That is off Triptans, just my other daily pain.
My weight stays static.
When the migraine hits back, my weight goes up by about 4lbs
Has anyone else noticed this please?
Any idea of reason.....I can only think the hormones I am not supposed to have any more.

Re: Weight goes up, with migraine.
Just random thought - could it be water weight?
I guess the question is does it go back down? I'm assuming yes otherwise I'm afraid you might have to be rolled out of the house with as often as you seem to be under attack.

Re: Weight goes up, with migraine.
I agree. I noticed that yesterday I weighed 7 lbs more than this morning. And it was all water weight. I lost 4 1/2 inches in my abdomen just by taking a water pill.
The edema attacks I'm having make me bloat like a balloon and it hurts. I sort of freaked when I saw that I had gained back what I thought I had lost so I was thrilled this morning when I lost it again and that my tummy was flat (relatively) again.

Re: Weight goes up, with migraine.
Thank you. First, yes, it goes away again after the migraine phase abates.
Second I dont bloat. Not at all. My daughter does, and she cant even get her clothes on.
I wish I could find how to help her, her stomach looks like she is 7 months pregnant sometimes.
She has been checked out, it seems to be hormones/IBS.
Anyway not me. Do not and never have bloated a bit.
I dont know where the weight is.
When I used to be due for my period, my left thigh would swell a little.
I could just feel my jeans a little tighter....soon as it started it went away.
Maybe one day is all, but not my belly....
So still of the same opinon???
Thanks

Re: Weight goes up, with migraine.
Pen,
Maybe it is due to all of the pain meds you take. I weighed mine once and they came to 13 lbs. That was just one weeks worth. I wondered why I kept gaining weight
I have noticed that I get rid of alot of water once the pain is gone. I don't know if it is because my body is dumping all of the pain meds or if the migraine has something to do with it.

My whole body swells before the stomach bloating really kicks in so you can be holding water all over and not get tummy bloating. So yes, I am still of the same opinion. Just one more system in the body that goes a little haywire with a migraine attack.

My healer friend was just here. He said I am carrying fluid. He said my liver is sluggish.
I am not bloated. Could be the medication pushing the liver, BUT the weight increase was before I had taken a Triptan....

Re: Weight goes up, with migraine.
Maybe it is the migrane mechanism not the medication. The one I have today is making my entire body go haywire. I'm bloated, in pain all over, nausea, IBS. How much of this is migraine, migraine triggering a fibro flare or vice versa, just comorbid crap, or lingering side effects from meds?? I don't know but I do know it sucks. This affects all of us differently based on how are bodies respond to the disease. These oddball symptoms are part and parcel of the whole process IMO.
