Magnesium topically?
Anyone try applying magnesium solution directly to affected areas?
I tried this last night.
They say if it stings that you likely have a magnesium deficiancy, which I had already assumed as most migrainers do.
It stung like a million stinging bees...lol. I put it on my very tender neck.
I think it actually helped the pain a bit.
Anyone else tried this?

I've never heard it can be applied this way!
So no I only took it in an oral form. It worked for a while, then stopped.
But it was nice while it lasted - all 5 months!

I got some from my friend who got it from a GP/TCM. I tried it last night on my actual headache. It stung, and gets itchy when it dries, but it helped.

Is it a cream or is it a liquid...I have some liquid magnesium that tastes nasty, but I wonder if I could rub that on my neck??? Cool idea.

The stuff I have at home is a liquid...it feels like it may be suspended in an oil, but I'm not sure at all....I suppose it couldn't hurt to try a liquid form that was made to be taken orally...I don't see why not.
This route is supposed to not have an effect on the bowels, unlike the oral form.

Totally sounds like the stuff I'm using. Makes sense that it's a bit oily because its mg oil....and my friend who gave it to me said it was sea-based.

Interesting.......how long do you suppose the mineral oil would last? I'm wondering if it is absorbed better externally than internally (I'm aware of the intestinal problems too much orally can cause)?
Thanks for sharing the Ancient Minerals web site.

Re: Magnesium topically?
I have this mega mag which is also oily feeling and from the sea. I rubbed it on my neck last night because my neck always bothers me, but I probably didn't get enough on there. It didn't burn but I could feel a slight strange feeling on my skin from it - like it was salt on my skin. This stuff was much cheaper than the other stuff, so it might not be the same. Although, who knows?! Thanks for sharing the site. Very interesting.

Re: Magnesium topically?
For the sore neck, have you considered that it may be your pillow? Me, I bought a side sleep pillow, SleepRight is the brand, made of memory foam and lo and behold after two nights no more sore neck muscles of the left side of my head. The only thing, the memory foam smell is still there after three weeks. Every day, I take off the pillow cover and the two pillow cases and put them in the dryer with some dryer softener strips. But with no more sore neck, it is worth the trouble.
Check out Amazon.com, they sell various brands and read their reviews, they may not be as smelly. Maybe next month, I will check out, at the local stores, some other brands and toss this pillow away.
