Shutter Island Empty Shutter Island

Post  lesherb Wed Jun 09, 2010 12:39 pm

I just watched this Martin Scorsese directed, Leonardo DiCaprio movie. They used migraine as a small plot device.

Has anyone seen this yet?

If you haven't, be warned, there's a bit of bad language and considerable blood.

I didn't find it scary. It was intense and the story was very engaging.

On another note, don't bother watching "Leap Year". While I love Amy Adams, this story was soooo predictable.

Leslie..thank you for the warning..I love Leo..was just talking about this movie with my best friend..wondering if she had seen it.

I scare easily...my boys and hubby love to sneak up and scare me..I do scream if I get scared in movies..my hubby doesn't like to bring me to see movies like that..those types we rent from Netflix.

I enjoyed Shutter Island, but I agree it wasnt scarey...
Interesting, but i wouldn't classify it as a horror movie.

I watched it a couple of months ago with friends. They asked me if the scenes of migraine were realistic as Di Caprio seemed a little bit overreacting; I look sick but not that horribly devasted by pain.
I simply said that I'm a woman and my pain threshold is higher.....

I like the story and I find it intriguing, at the end of the movie, to discuss with my hubby and friends about the different interpretation of the final.

Yes, Ivy. The end of the movie could be folded over into itself over and over again.....now that's what I call a migraine! Very Happy

Interesting. I'm not usually a big fan of DiCaprio, but I might check this one out!

Vicki,
I don't like Di Caprio either. He's great in the movie, though

My husband and I only get to the movies to see Kid Movies.........but we went and saw this one on a date night some months ago.

LOVED the movie. Not a horror film by any means. Suspense and Drama? Loads! And I love that sort of thing.

I thought this movie was so good. I wanted everyone to have to stay in the theater and turn up the lights and for us all to 'discuss' as there was so much racing through my head as the credits rolled.

Very well done by all the actors........really good movie.

Can you tell I liked it? ;-)
