Another afternoon spent at the hospital.

I had the same awful pain I had a month ago when I went to ER and was diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism. I was in tears I was so scared.
I was given a shot of morphine which didn't help much, then some Toradol which actually helped and was sent home with a small amount of Percs.

After a number of X rays the doctor showed me the X rays from a month ago and put them up against the new ones. The good news is that the blood
clots I have in both lungs are shrinking. He's not sure what the pain is (which is mostly just around my back under my shoulder blade). But the X rays show
a shadow which he thinks could be the start of pneumonia. I was so happy to be sent home. I was so sure they'd admit me and I have friends coming from
England in 3 weeks and was starting to panic.

Will pray for you tonight. Sorry things are going this way. Wish I could give you a hug. One day at a time. Billy

Oh Ruth I'm so sorry, what a scare must have that been.

On the good side thank God it's 'only pneumonia'.
I hope a good round of antibiotics will put you back on your feet just in time for your overseas friends to have great fun together.

Yes "only pneumonia" might sound trite, but it could have been worse.
Even so pretty scary stuff.

Oh Ruth, I am so sorry that you are dealing with this.

I'm glad they got your pain under control though.

Are the percocet they gave you helping?

Did they give you antibiotics for the pnemonia?

Please rest and take care of yourself.

Your body will need the rest so that it can fight the pnemonia.

You are such a sweetheart.

I will be praying that you heal quickly and feel 100% very soon.

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a little better this morning. I only took two percocets last night, I'm going to try and save the rest in case I get the severe pain back.

No Cindy I wasn't given antibiotics. I have another x ray in two weeks and will follow up with my doctor.

I was so sorry to hear you were back at the hospital, Ruth. I hope your pain is easing each day and you will soon forget all of this.

If the pain doesn't ease up, I wonder if you might ask your doctor about pleurisy. Years ago, my friend had it and it was mighty painful. I had to drive her to the hospital and every bump in the road made her cry out. The reason I thought of it was that you expressed the amount of pain and I know pleurisy is a lung affliction that causes a lot of pain.

That's interesting Leslie. I was given some papers to take to my doctor a month ago from the hospital when this thing started, and although it's hard to read the scribble that doctor's write, there was something like the word pleurisy in there somewhere. I'm going to look on line and see what I can find.

Ruth I do hope you get this settled soon. If ithey think it is pneumonia why are they not treating you with antibiotics and then taking the x-ray? Doctors...I wonder sometimes.

I sure hope you are better when all your visitors arrive.

i'm sorry to hear about this. i hope they get a plan that gets you feeling better.

i have to 2nd the notion about anti-biotics. pneumonia is tough to knock out.
