Does anyone get ... um gassy with a migraine?

Such a delicate subject! But I have noticed that with some migraines I get extremely gassy and have to belch, over and over again. It's almost like yawning attacks where you keep yawning. It is soooooo unladylike but it just happens. Does anyone else experience this?

I don't know if its a direct cause. But I do know that my tummy is often uncomfortable with M. I don't know if it's from what I'm able to eat when things are bad but sometimes...good thing the dogs like stinky things.

Often get a gassy tum and sometimes upset too. Hate it when it really goes for it, as I dont want to be tripping to the loo with migraine.

Yuperoo! There've been lots of posts previously about the stomach-brain connection with migraine. I know for a fact my stomach pretty much shuts down during migraine which means I can't digest tablet-form treatments etc. And yes - I do suffer the windypops when migrainey!

yes, it happens to me too, but I've always thought that it was a reaction to meds (I can only use suppositories).

During severe migraines, the stomach shuts down. It's called something like gastric statis. That's why oral medications don't always get absorbed after a migraine has gotten going and they look for other ways of administering the drug.

I imagine that the statis could make one very gassy.

I dont have gastric stasis and get pretty gassy.....lucky me...

Ok! I feel better now. I can belch and not feel like a total pig. My daughter always gives me the evil eye when it starts so now I can just tell her I can't help it.

I get the yawns terribly and I also have to "go" when I get one. I figured the constriction that I get included my colon? Of course the medicines i'm on are having the opposite effect though they're helping the migraines. Trying to figure out what to do about that side effect now!

not gassy, but indigestion makes an apperance often hours b4 the migraine does, and i have tried to pin point if it is a certain type of food, but cant narrow it down, often wake in morning have breakfast indigestion starts, then head starts later on ,not even taken any meds at that point, and yawning is a big thing for me if M is on its way.

You know - I never really thought of indigestion - but the week before this whole thing went bad for me I did have indigestion a couple evenings and I can count on one hand how many times i've had that in my life and i'm 45. I wonder if that had something to do with the migraine?!

I've been migrainey for the last three days and besides the burbs, I've been waking up at night with hoorrible heartburn. It's all part and parcel with a migraine attack messing up your entire body. Bleah!

I tend to eat much worse when I have a bad migraine. I could live on Pepsi but have to try to avoid it due to diabetes. But that doesn't mean I don't cheat. So I end up with some stomach problems from the m's, the bad food and the phenergen that I take to keep from throwing up. I guess if I think about it, I might have some extra, um, air in me during that time.
