Mr. Robbin out for some dinner (btw, I think robbins are good luck)

Some trees waiting for their leaves.....some cattails just blowing in the evening breeze.

A pic of Lake Erie looking east...those rubble walls called breakwalls help dissipate wave energy. A calm lake tonight--glass. This was my office, LOL when I was a lifeguard.

Could this be off of an old schooner that had sunk in the lake over 100 years ago? Probably not,.....most likely part of an old seawall that had washed down in a winter storm. Darn.

Presque Isle Lighthouse. Built in 1872. At this time, the area was a total wilderness only accessable by boat.

The remnants of an old jetty that ships could tie up to, to supply the lighthouse during the spring and summer months.

A nice spring day. My head hurts. Dad and I went out for some picture practice. As I walked the beaches a bit, I realized I was in a lot better shape when I was 18. Ha!

Re: Today's Pics
Maybe you could take repeat photos when everything is green? It would be cool to see it all that way also.
Wonderful lighthouse!

Very nice. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
what grabbed my attention is, on the right of the lighthouse is this evergreen fir or whatnot behind another, the first,
a bit reddish in hue tree,
that all together make a very interesting effect.
at first i thought it's a fancy garden trim work
then I realized I'm just an old half blind bat, it's just one tree behind the other, lol

Re: Today's Pics
A couple winters ago it was very mild here and I told hubby I was driving north til I found Winter. I ended up in a Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast in Big Bay, Michigan. Big Bay is the real setting of "Thunder Bay" in the book and movie "Anatomy of a Murder" which was based on a killing in Big Bay in the '40's Three days of Lake Superior thirty feet from my window, a fireplace in my room and a bag full of books. It was heaven. Here's a pic I took from the top of the Lighthouse.

Can't get much better than that. I love Lake Superior in the cold months as well as the warm. I spent a couple of hours with a friend just watching the waves crash up against the rocks on a cold and wintry day.

Beautiful photographs! thanks for sharing.
One of my most pleasant memories is an afternoon in Kotzebue Alaska far north of the Arctic Circle. I stood on the beach and watched the ocean freeze. slight waves of slush ... amazing afternoon.

Re: Today's Pics
OK. See the picture Anna's mom sent? I fell from one of those cliffs when I was 19 (and stupid). Broke my back. Hey, maybe that is why I have migraines - good as guess as any

Re: Today's Pics
It wasn't right at that spot in the picture. It was a ways down closer to Two Harbors. I landed on solid rock next to the water. The people I was with (college friends) put me on a board of some kind--have no idea where they got it and somehow got me in their jeep and took me to the hospital. It is funny, I went to lunch with one of them a few years ago after not seeing any of them for years and years. He is an attorney now and says they still talk about that night on occasion. Pretty scary when I look back, but at the time all I could think about was getting to work and how terrible I must look. I still remember that.

Porsche - the picture wasn't mine. It was Anna's mom. Just brought back an old memory.

Re: Today's Pics
Linda, an old BAD memory! Yikes. A girl was rollerblading in Leif Erickson Park in Duluth, and she ran out of pavement. She toppled down some big rocks into Lake Superior and died. There are metal bars there now. You are lucky to have survived.
What hospital did you go to?

Re: Today's Pics
Two Harbors Hospital. I had to wear a back brace for several months but that is about it. I've never had any problems since then with my back. There is an indentation in my back where the vertebrae were crushed, but that is the only indication that I have ever broken my back. What crazy days. That was only one of many times I could have been dead. Did have lots of fun. I don't even want to know what my own kids have done (they are grown now). Better off not knowing. Every once in awhile they bring up something like the night they were diving off the cliffs on the St. Croix River and I cringe.

For a small hospital, they did good! Don't you just love going up there? Some day I'll end up in Duluth, I do believe.

I know, I loved that little metal dinosaur. It was so random. I had such fun tromping around. HUbby would've hated it though. No TV and it was ccccoooolllldddd. I loved it! Every single second of it.
