Neuro Guidelines - interesting
I work as a medical librarian and this morning I came across this in a list of guidelines for neurologists:
Don't use opioid or butalbital treatment for migraine except as a last resort.
Opioid and butalbital treatment for migraine should be avoided because more effective, migraine-specific treatments are available. "The problem is it's a very temporary pain relief and it contributes to transform migraine, so they go from having episodic migraines to having continuous chronic headaches that are much more difficult to treat," Dr. Langer-Gould said. Opioids should be used only for those with medical conditions preventing the use of migraine-specific treatments or for those in whom these treatments fail.

Well if they have "more effective treatments ", I'd sure like to know what they are.
I've tried 3 different Triptans which don't seem to do much of anything.
