Found a new drug!

I have recently started a new drug that is helping me. It is called Diamox. I read an article in Neurology Now Magazine about Rosanne Cash who ended up having Chiari, but tried the Diamox and it didn't help her (because she had Chiari).
It is used for mountain climbers when reaching high altitudes to relieve the pressure on the brain.
I have been telling my Neurologist for years that the anti-depressents just don't work for me, that my head fights them, and that I feel like someone is sqeezing my brain. So when I found this I called and asked to try it. He was ok with it and put me on 2 per day of 250 mg. Well, they worked ok, but wore off to quickly and the migs came back so he upped it to 3 per day, now instead of having a migraine literally everyday, I am only having 2-3 per week!
There are some side affects, just tingling in my fingers and feet, but it only lasts about 20 minutes per dose then it's gone.

That's great, thanks for the info. I hadn't heard of that drug. I may ask my doctor about trying it too. He's pretty open to my suggestions.

I have heard of this drug but not for migraine use.

Next time I see my Doctor I will definitely ask him about it.

Any decrease in frequency or intensity would be fantastic.

If Diamox helped your head pain, it may because you have high intracranial pressure. Also known as intracranial hypertension or pseudotumor cerebri. Diamox is a treatment for this condition.

The Diamox is not working as well as it did in the beginning, but much fewer migraines, now I am just so tired all the time. I have to take naps during the day. But still better than being in pain everyday.
