Test time....another cardiac cath
I'm scheduled in about a week for another cardiac cath. This will be the 11th cath in total, and 9th heart cath. Looks like I have a decent blockage or two in my left coronary artery branch, including left anterior decending. My cardio is on vacation and I could go in monday, but would rather have the guy that's active on my case. It will be done locally, so I won't have to travel.

yeehaw. i'll probably need a stent or two. it's probably about time.

I hope I didn't put voo-doo jitsu on you by bringing up cardiac cath's the other day!
Hope all goes well, and I don't blame you for waiting til your regular guy gets back.
Glad you're keeping your sense of humor.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Do you find that having such a good knowledge of these things helps you deal with any possible anxiety?

Re: Test time....another cardiac cath
thanks guys.
i appreciate your support. it's not fun having these done, but it's not horrible either. i've had worse tests. the good thing is that i should feel better if they are able to stent a blockage or two. it's just par for the course.
if i don't do anything, i'll be in big trouble. my headaches get worse when i have coronary blockages, so i should actually feel better if they can do stuff.
i'm not too stressed about it, as i knew it was coming. getting all my docs on the same page is the hardest part.
some fun hobbies and not becoming fixated on problems helps out. my doc laughed at me yesterday. he asked "so what do you want to do?" i replied, "i know what i would do, what do you want to do?" he said, "ok, we're getting you into the cath lab."
it's positive that we have a good working relationship. the night before i did my research on guidelines set by the american college of cardiology and pretty much know what was in store. and yep, you don't have to be an expert to learn things, just dedicated enough to research.
hopefully they can do some stuff in the cath lab.
thanks everyone. good wishes right back at you.

Re: Test time....another cardiac cath
Back home already.
The stress test turned out to be a false-positive. The cath was ok, with some minor changes since the last one. Still have moderate 3 vessel coronary disease. No changes in meds, didn't need a stent.
Now it looks like the only way to get an accurate idea of what's going on with my heart is to do a heart cath. Too much radiation. I'm turning neon green.
Irritating, but the staff was really nice.
Oh well. I'm glad to be back home. Just have to chill so I don't pop the stitches out of my femoral.
Thanks!
