10 this month
almost made it through january on 9 triptans. Had to take one today, so 10. Well it is a 31 day month.
Checked back and after 13 in december. I should be heartened.
Also found same amount as Jan 09 and exact same amount OTC.
Not sure what any of this means, but at least no worse

Pen,
Please interpret for the dumb American. What does chuffed mean? I can guess from its context, but I'd like to hear the straight info from you.

Sorry Chris, not dumb american, just dumb Brit forgetting language barriers....lol
Chuffed is a mainly northern English expression, meaning pleased with yourself i guess.
so sorry.
Now this dumb Brit needs to get some sleep its 2am.
Never seem to be sleepy after a Triptan, even though it was 14 hours ago...strange.

Re: 10 this month
Funny, I just counted mine before getting on here, guess it's cuz it's the end of the month.
I had 21 treatables! That is way to much! Lord, please help us all. At least show us what it is, I think everyone on here would be obedient to stop doing whatever it is, if only we knew.....
This is getting really hard to handle, such a disfunctional life. I look around and see people happy and doing things they love to do while I lay on the couch, or sit and stare in pain!

I'm right there with ya', sherri b. And I've tried about every preventative known to man (some more than once), including many off-label ones. Is it asking too much for someone to figure this all out so we can live a life again?
In addition to the disfunctional life, I feel like I've lost about half my brain cells throughout this process. I don't feel able to think, concentrate or figure things out any more (big sigh). My ability to learn seems to be gone, and I've always loved learning and doing brain-challenging projects.
God bless us one and all!

I'd count 9 then, 1 is a reward for you honesty
I would have cheated and moved the attack to 00.01 am, Feb 1st
Take care

Re: 10 this month
What needs to be done as we all know and have talked about before is getting this information out there so everybody knows it. For the most part, people still think migraine is a headache and psychological. They think of disabilities as being blind or in a wheelchair. They have no idea that a during a migraine you might as well be blind and in a wheelchair both.

Ugh! I can't even recall how many of the darn things I've had this month. Today I'm sitting at my desk doing the movie star routine with my oh so cool sunglasses on. I am so sick of having my head hurt!!! Not to mention the bruises from running into the doorways and walls. And as to thinking clearly??!!! hahahahahahahahahaha!
Bring on the wheelchair!
Bring on the wheelchair!

Re: 10 this month
Ooh I feel a bit bad now. Here I am agonizing and then celebrating over taking 10 instead of the 13 I succumbed to in December.
And some of you are up to 20+ days. Does that mean 20+ Triptans?? I dont get enough for that.
I just wish they would work better. Get lots of side effects now, and then the day is lost.
So I try to get through without them because once i Have had one, my day is over.
Linda you are so right. We are as disabled as many others. Trying to crack the system here and even getting a blue badge to park closer is like getting an audience with the Queen.
I started that site before Christmas to try to get a central base and hoped to get Drs etc to go to it.
Not sure if it was a bad idea, but it didn't take off.
We need something though.
Celebs with migraine.....? I don't know
I cannot believe we cant do better than this.
Dont we deserve lives and respect...
Maybe Teri has some ideas.

Re: 10 this month
Doesn't The World Health Organization rank severe migraine attacks to be as disabling as quadriplegia. I think that says it all.

Re: 10 this month
Pen,
Yea, it means that many Triptans! I get a script for Treximet, one for imitrex injections, and one for imitrex pills. (the imitrex are now generic, so they are not nearly as good!) I also get 5 vials of Toridal, for when it's really bad!!! I hate taking all this medication.
Yesterday I felt one lingering all day, but did not want to take anything cuz like you said then your day is all over with. So I waited till 8 pm.... boy, I should have never done that! It got so bad I wanted to vomit!!!
Something has to break!!!!

Re: 10 this month
Sherri, I can feel the anger, frustration and weariness in your words.
I had one hit early this morning.
Whilst I sleepily tried to reason that it didnt seem too bad and might respond to OTC.
I fell asleep. When I awoke at 8.30 it was a 10. I took a migard.
It took 3 hours to do anything. I am on the couch, the pain keeps shifting, but wont go away.
The only consolation is it is down to about a 7.
I shouldn't be on here, but I felt the need to be in good company.
Anyway the triptan has done all it will, I am going to hurt anyway.
Another day of my life. I hope today was better for you.

Re: 10 this month
Pen,
I am so sorry for how you are feeling right now. I pray you get some relief today! Enough is enough! I know what you mean, I have done that, woke with it, and didn't do anything about it....
I hope this response finds you doing a little better anyway.
Can you go to e.r. and get something, usually toridal, or even morphine will help some. I'm not familiar with your healt coverage. I do see you are in England, things might be very different there.
I hope for the best for you today.
I am doing ok today, it is lurking in the shadow, I can feel it, but I am at least up and moving around and getting some things tended to. I have to work tomorrow and Thursday, so I am praying I will be able to get my 2 days in at work.( I am currently on part time due to economy right now) (thank good ness)
May God bless you today, and bring you some relief!
