Why does nothing work for visual aura?????????
I know this gets revisited time and time again, but i'm 6 hours into a migraine and the visual crappy aura hasn't gone away - I just can't see and am so sick and dizzy and disorientated and can't stop crying. I don't understand why nothing works to stop it. The pain is bad but not so bad I can't function, I just can't d*mn well see!! I hate it more than anything about migraine. Feel like I"m going insane.
Sorry for the rant. I know some here have reported almost constant visual disturbances - I don't know how you do it - My hubby is at work late and I feel really alone and afraid. HATE migraine with every fibre of my being.

Liz, I hope this new gadget they are testing may help you.
Lee is saying there is little to help it and she is hopeful this might
For now that doesnt help ,and I know what it is like to be alone and afraid.
Just keep on here, at least then you are not totally alone.
And if it ever happens in the day time do call MAA, they will always listen and try to help.

Valproate and flunarizine are two of the preventatives that are thought to help more with the aura phase, and coincidently are two of the ones that have helped my migraines most. On the old board there was a guy called Ian who was taking valproate for visual disturbances like visual snow and I think it helped him. Not sure if you've tried these already.

I have the constant visual snow. After three trips to the eye specialist who is very nice I have just accepted it's there. Strangely since the constant snow (gold snow I might add - non of this cheap stuff) and a constant mild stabbing pain in the head and constant mild nausea I haven't had a classic train wreck migraine.
The specialist was right though you do adjust. Some nights with the ears buzzing away and seeing the gold snow I'm sure my body is in the middle of a lightning storm.

nothing working for aura
I havn't found anything that works for aura yet. Still have it today and it started when I woke up as usual. Valproate is something I havn't tried so I will mention it to my doc. Thanks for mentioning it.
