Does your head ever feel ....
Does the top of your head ever feel like it is trying to lift off? I can't figure out if this is an aura or another weird manifestation of the facial/scalp pain.
I feel nauseous and dizzy so I'm leaning toward nasty migraine.

Alli,
Sorry I have not experienced this, but I wanted to write to say I hope you avert the nasty migraine and feel better quickly.

No, but I have had ones where my head feels like it is going to explode. (Not recently, though.)
When that happens, I wish that it would explode, get it over with, and put me out of my misery!

I had the weird feeling of having liquid nitrogen poured into my head. It's so cold it's burning. Very, very painful.
And yeah, I had the feeling of my head expanding, somewhat.
If only that meant I was also proportionately smarter, ehh..

Yes. I get a sensation that is like intense pressure but feels like the top of my head is going to come off. I also have days where my hair hurts. Ponytails are pure torture on days like this. I don't get pain in my face but I can get it on a specific point on my head, a side of my head or the whole scalp. Then I start with the drugs - usually a sign of a bad M for me.

It's hard to explain. I feels like pressure but it doesn't really hurt. It almost like a balloon is expanding and the top third of my skull just wants to lift off, from just above the ears. Strange sensation and yes, I did get a migraine but it wasn't too bad, a 3-4 or so. More nausea than pain.

I actually get the complete opposite of this, like something is pushing on the top of my head. Like someone has put a weight on it and it's pushing me down, making me feel really heavy.

Sometimes mine feels like it's going to blow out my ears. Other times it feels more like it's going to implode than explode...it's kinda hard to explain.

I get what I have explain as a hyper-awareness of the space between my brain and my skull. Like the pain is in that abyss making it larger and more noticeable.

Alli,
I get that sensation frequently as a prodrome. All day yesterday I was telling my husband that it feels like some sort of vibrating balloon is in the back of my head. It doesn't hurt, but it's a feeling that you can't ignore and I find it a bit unsettling.

Hi All,
My head fells like it is going to explode, or it feels like someone has taken a cake ,mixer to my head and scrambled everythihng. It also feels very heavy during bad migraines.
So, yes, I think we all get weird and horrible sensations during migraine.
Pain free days,

Hi Alli
I sometimes get a very deep pain on the top of my head and it's usually as the main migraine is on the way out. I don't know why it only happens sometimes, seems we all get lots of weird and differing head pain to accompany the migraines

Apparently there are two types of migraines, the imploding type and the exploding type. Botox seems to work better on people with the imploding type. Different vascular regions are involved between the two.

Yes I've had that Alli - I don't think it was associated with a migraine. I have weird sensations in my scalp very occassionally tho. there's one in the centre of my forehead that feels like a tiny whirlpool and the one you described. Weird huh. Hope you don't get a migraine!
EDIT: OMG lol. I didn't realise how old this thread was.
