DDarn This disease
TV has been "bothering me" recently. I just cannot watch it ... the many images are sure to cause an episode. Plus Ihave been episoding pretty consistently since Friday night ... a bad episode then plus huge postdrome ... been asleep most of Saturday and Sunday.
And I have missed the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
I love the winter olympics. Short track ice racing with Apolo Anton Ohno, the ski jumping, the figure skating, the women's super G ... I love watching these events ... especially the hockey.
Si I missed Apolo's historic bronze medal and team USA's upset of Canada (sorry about that Risa) and Johnny Weir's performance and Bode Miller's finally getting a medal ... missed it all. Can only look at photographs of the great performances.
Darn these disease. Usually I can accept it and move on ... but man oh man, I miss the Olympics in 2010.

I'm sorry you've missed the Olympics, Richard. Is it the changing light of the television that bothers you? It occasionally bothers me. I haven't seen much of it either, and I especially love the ice skating competitions.
You've had some pretty emotional things going on lately. My emotions really wreak havoc on my brain--and this happens subconsciously, without my knowing what triggers things. Please be gentle with yourself.
I have more troubles with reading and the computer. I LOVE to read! Audio books are at least keeping my mind occupied, but I don't apprehend the material as well as if I read it.
This "DDarn disease" robs us of so many activities we love. It so stinks sometimes (actually quite often it does).
Please take care.

I've been having trouble with my eyes so I haven't been able to watch the Olympics as much as I like, but I have been listening, at least till I fall asleep. Can you listen at all or is it the whole tv experience?

I cant stand sport so havent missed a thing. But I do understand and can empathise with the problem.
Can you maybe record some and watch it in fragments when you feel a little better.
Thats what I do with things I miss.

Tv bothering you
The TV often bothers me too so I have to limit it but when I really want to watch something....
I record it so I can ff thru commercials which are very "flashy".
I have 3 preset lighting settings on my TV the lowest being "movie". I switch it to that and it is very dim. It keeps switching it out of it every 15-20minutes, I don't know why but I just switch it back.
I have my chair at least 8-10 feet from the tv.
I turn the sound really low and use closed captions because the sounds can get loud without warning.
p.s. If you have On Demand you can catch the Ohno hightlights. I watched him get his silver and he was amazing. That day I watched the Olympics for several hours. Bad idea!!! I won't do that again. I just go to On Demand and watch the highlights. They are online too. Ohno went way around the outside to pass everyone and won by a quarter track. It was so amazing.

TV bothering me
Sorry you missed the winter olympics.
I've had a shaded lamp just behind the TV for a while, it seems to reduce the effect of flicker by reducing the contrast between the tv light source and the area around it. It helps a lot, but I am in trouble when I stay at someone's house that doesn't have a lamp set up. I can't watch anything much over 42 inches.
Hope things settle soon so you can watch it again.
best wishes

Actually the big plasma screen now I think of it. The one I use from here on the couch on my mig days.
I dont notice the flicker...not sure if Plasma is better for that, but worth checking out.

What did I miss? I've watched bits but hadn't heard anything new or exciting. Other than the US-Canada hockey game was really interesting.
