Nerve Ablation?

Nerve Ablation?
Hi All,
Has anyone tried nerve ablation for chronic migraines? I have tried multiple preventative medications over the past 20 years with no success, and recently gave botox a try which didn't really help either. My pain doc suggested a nerve ablation on the trigeminal nerve above my left eye as that's where 99% of my pain happens. However I'm pretty nervous about it as it sounds like a very painful procedure. But if it works, I'm giddy about the fact I could have pain relief for up to 9 months. (In fact, my biggest hope is that if this works, I'll be able to have another baby and not be bed-bound for the entire time with migraines!)
Any experiences with this?
Thanks in advance..

Re: Nerve Ablation?
Sorry, but I don't have any experience or knowledge of nerve ablation. However, have you tried the Cefaly headband? It's a cranial electrical nerve stimulator, especially for those whose migraines involve the trigeminal nerve. It has worked really well for me. (See my other posts.) You can read about it at www.cefaly.com. (I'm in no way affiliated with the Cefaly company.)

Re: Nerve Ablation?
I haven't. However, with the research I've done, it is something you should definitely be wary of. Do your own detailed research and get multiple specialist opinions. To me, there is too much of a risk of increased pain, which is sometimes indefinite. It seems to be losing popularity. What about nerve blocks and/or a nerve stimulator trial? Best wishes.
