pain management "wiz quizes"
Well, I had the dang Nerve Block done and it DID NOT HELP ONE BIT! In fact, it has left me with a horrible voice... all hoarse all the time but worse at night. Seems that steroids can do it to a very few and of course your's truly is one of those. The doc doesn't know if I will EVER get my normal voice back!
As for the Monsters... I have had some of the worse migraines in my life since they messed with those dang shots!! I told them yesterday that I will NOT EVER allow another nerve block! So... back to the regular regime of Oxycotin20 3Xaday and Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 10-325's every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. They only give me 100 a month so I have to be really careful with them as the Monsters hit me 28 out of 30 days a month.
(I know all about the rebounds. I will sometimes go several days of just staying in bed to kind of "detox" myself to be sure I'm not just dealing with the rebounds.) I am VERY careful of my meds.
I had asked him when I can go back to appointments every other month again as my insurance coverage changed and it's costing me a lot more to go in every month to see them. ( I LOVE Obama but NO THANK YOU OBAMACARE)
He looked back through my records at my "wiz quizes" and told me that I was clear in Jan, but in Feb it showed Klonopin. ??? I have told them and told them I have been prescribed Klonopin for the past 10 yrs or better as anti-seizure for the petit-mal seizures I get from the Monsters! But... the dang person collecting the specimens did NOT ask me that time if I had taken any in the past 48 hours. So... DUH Of course it showed up in my urine! But do you think I could get the dang man to listen to me???
Because the person collecting the specimens is NOT an employee of theirs but rather an employee of the lab she had no access to my records and did not ask me about the med, it was not listed, so he said I did not entirely pass my "quiz". Now what kind of cr** is that??? So, I have to wait till I get in there next month and remind him that he had said that he would go to 2 month appointments for me at THAT TIME. He had already finished typing everything into the computer for my visit so the visit was OVER and no matter what I said he would not change from his stance. What a dumb ignorant individual sitting there in his madras slacks with no socks on his loafered feet!!
Sorry this is so long....had to vent
Hope you all have much better days than I have had here.

Wiz Quiz
I'm sorry that you had an allergic reaction to your pompous ass pain doctor. I take Klonopin as well. Thankfully, my NP and psychiatrist are in communication with each other, as well as with my neuro.

Sounds like it is time for a new doctor.

Sorry you had that experience. I'd definitely bring in your Klonopin bottle next time. Or better yet, a printout from the pharmacy for the prescription from the month of that test. You want to get that 100% cleared up on your record, even though it isn't considered a failure that they are kicking you out for.
When I have a UA at the pain doctor, I give them a complete medication list and write next to each medication when I last took it. Then there is no chance for mis-communication. To do this I bring two med lists each visit (I have one printed page which includes the med, dose, frequency, doctor, reason, and how long I've taken it). I give them one for my medical record each visit.
If I am told I have to do a UA that visit, then I take a minute and write down the info on the second copy and give it to the tech (they then write to see attached on the UA form). They are actually very happy I do this due to the length of my med list.
If you aren't happy with your doctor, definitely seek out a new one. The best way is from a recommendation from a doctor which is a good fit, but it may just come down to online research and initial visits. It can take some time to find a pain doc that is a good match. I'd continue your appointments with this doctor while interviewing new doctors (ie. having an initial visit and asking them what their treatment plan for you would be).
Don't accept any medication from a new doctor until you end care with the old doctor, cancelling any pain contract you have. There shouldn't be any issue seeing another pain doctor as long as you aren't getting pain meds from them. I'd end care with the old doctor either in person or certified mail, just to make sure there aren't any issues.
Its a good idea to get your records from them at that time too. Its actually a good idea to do that periodically with every doctor to review them for accuracy. I often learn quite a bit from that. Its interesting what a doctor will put in records but not voice to the patient. Best wishes.

Re: pain management "wiz quizes"
I always have my current list of meds with me but this time the tech didn't ask me about any meds I had taken.
I can't find another pain mgmt doc here in town... I've already been through them and this is the ONLY one I found willing to work with me and my migraines. So, I'm pretty well stuck with him. I really like most of the doctors there but this guy I've been "lucky" enough to get lately is only a PA with a God complex I think.
Thanks for the feedback here. Hope you all have many pain free days!
