Update- hospital stay finally getting better
Hi All,
Hi All,
It has been awhile since I posted last.
Let's see I was admitted to the hospital in the second week of November. I was there for 4 days. The verdict at the end- basically treat pain and get off everything else. I was on way too many meds and really out of it- the side effects were bad too- nausea. So basically- we decided to get off everything except Tylenol 3 for pain. (along with immediate release morphine for the really bad ones.) so that is what we have been doing. I haven't needed the morphine- which is good. I do have zanaflex for sleep. But still I am doing better than I have been doing in months. Dora is back too and that helps. So I spent a few days at the hospital and then went to the beach for thanksgiving with my family. Things have been better.
I am not sure what helped- but here is the result.I am not sure exactly what helped. I think the hospitalization did help. I had round the clock depakan, as well as magnesium, phenobarb, benedryl, and Phenergan with Morphiine for pain. It broke the headache, but made me soo out of it that we realized I was on way too much. So I left with prescriptions for Morphine and Phenergan. However, we decided to go with a less is more approach when leaving the hospital. So now I am simply taking Tylenol 3, the occasional klonopin, and zanaflex for sleep. I do have morphine for really bad ones, but I haven't had to use it yet. (keeping fingers crossed on that point.)
I think some time and rest also helped a great deal. I am not sure what worked- could have been a combination of things- I mean the tmeds did break it. I also think some quiet time at the Beach with my family helped too. I don't know what it is about the bay- maybe just the salt water, the break, throwing things for Dora and Max (my father's dog), going shelling, and rest all come together to make me feel better. I don't know why it happens, but usually a few days at Port St. Joe just make me feel better?
Whatever it is, I am doing better. I have actually been able to get stuff done that needed to be done. (I haven't been able to do much or anything for six weeks.) I also got some Christmas decorating done today- basically got a wreath and a tree (artificial) but decorating it was fun. So I guess I am going to stay on this tack for a while and enjoy doing a little better and hope that it continues. (Hoping and praying as I write that one.)
Just hoping that things will continue to improve.

Good to hear that you are feeling better!
Even able to get into the Christmas Spirit a little.
That's good to hear.
I know I have had Christmas's where I was just too sick to care.
Crossing my fingers that things stay on an even keel for you.
