Phone scam

This morning I received a phone call on my cell phone from someone claiming to be with UPS.

He said that there was a package for me from Publishers Clearing House and wanted to know if I would be home this afternoon.

He had what I think was a Jamaican accent so I was leary from the get go.

Didn't let him go any further.

Told him I knew it was a scam and that if he was legitimately with UPS, the call would not have come up "Unknown."

Then I hung up and checked it out on the Internet.

Apparently this scam has been going on for a few years.

Some of what I read says that they then tell you that they will deliver your package but you must give them your credit or debit card info because there is a handling fee.

I called our local Police Department and also sent an email to UPS fraud Department.

I would hate to think someone would fall for this and lose money, not to mention these people could probably clean out your bank account, or charge things on your credit card as well.

You all have probably already heard of this scam but I had not so thought I would share.
