Petadolex instead of Topamax or also know as butterbur?
Hi I'm a severe chronic migraine sufferer for about the last 7 years. My doctor took me off topamax. I'm totally free of it since about 5 weeks ago. I stopped taking it do to side effects, however I needed something to replace it. My Doctor told me to get Petadolex other wise know as Butterbur. I was about to order it but, thought I'd ask if anyone knew about it, or have tried it. When I looked it up on line there are a lot of positive articles. It's found in Europe. It's been around since 1970. It's just starting to get well know in the states. It helps support blood flow in the cerebral vessels.
Thanks for reading.

Petadolex
I've been taking it for about a year and saw no negative side effects. I also did not see the results I wanted but - I am taking many, many supplements and have become very aware of my triggers. You might say I'm at an advanced stage of trigger and supplement management and Petadolex was just not able to get me over that final hump to no migraines. I don't know what will but I am still searching. I do know that all I read about it sounded pretty good. I also found it cheaper on-line than my local stores. For me, my major breakthrough to migraine management was with a very low fat diet, and 300 mg coq10 gell capsules. With those 2 changes I began to see my 18 days a month lost to migraine begin to improve. But, we are all different in triggers and response to meds and supplements. Give it a try, take notes, and keep studying.

Petodolax is the best type of butterbur to take. It is certainly worth a try. I ended up getting diarrhea, but it was worth trying.

I tried a supplement which included butterbur among several other things. After 5 weeks, my migraines went from everyday to 6 days per week. This lasted for several years. Who knows if it was the butterbur or something else in the supplement such as the magnesium or feverfew. It is know to reduce inflammation which is a big key for migraines.

Thanks for your replies
I've tried everything. I'm also on "trigger control" but I have many. I was looking for something I haven't tried. Doesn't seem like there's much out there. Unfortunately I feel like I've been through the ringer. I will be trying the Petadolex. I've also changed diet as well of course and I work out 5-6 days a week. I'm in great shape and extreamly healthy other than the 18+ migraines a month and headaches in between.
I'm kinda over the tordal shots & imetrex shots too But their great for rescue and more tolerable than Topamax. I was on that for years and years. I about lost my mind forgetting things.
I've also started the Botox in standard form that's FDA approved. I had that done for the second time this morning. It's about 38-42 injections of 200mg. Hoping for the best on this because I got an extremely bad stiff neck last time that lasted a couple weeks. Has anyone had that happen? The nurologist said it starts to work best after the second time and to continue every 3 months..
Wish you all the best and if there are any remedies or any suggestions they are greatly appreciated!!

I started on petadolex earlier this year...........I just take one a day though I think two a day is the recommended dosage. I do think it does help raise my brain's threshold for a migraine - it makes my brain less sensitive to my triggers or makes my brain more tolerant of day to day stimulation. Does that make sense? It has not stopped them just maybe helps stretch out the time between them a little bit.

Jewishmother's description of petadolex effect fits my experience perfectly. I continue to take it because when I have stopped, I have noticed after a few weeks an intensification of migraines. I did have much better success with taking a 75 mg. pill twice a day.

Petadolex
I have had migraines for 60 years. Tried everything!! I literally stumbled upon PETADOLEX. Have taken it along with COQ10 and magnesium for 5 weeks. I can't believe how well it works. It has been used in Europe for 30 years. Petadolex comes from butterbur herb. The German Company "Weber & Weber" is the only Company with a patent to refine butterbur, remove the toxic substance called PA, which can damage the liver. Please do some research on this. It takes up to 6 weeks to see results. It is worth the wait. I feel great. CAUTION: Not all butterbur is the same. Only buy the PETADOLEX Brand.
Good luck!

Wow, I had not seen that thread for some reason, thanks MXGO. I am going to order some and give it a try but will start with the child size dose as my intestines are very sensitive to anything that might irritate. Also my age and size may indicate it wise to start with a small dose.
