Anger and migraines
Hi All,
I have noticed that I will just get really, really mad either just before the migraine or when the pain gets worse. It also tends to happen right before I faint.
I am usually pretty laid back- it is actually somewhat difficult to make me mad- but sometimes these headaches make me furious. I don't know if it is just part of migraine. Or if I am just tired of the pain and tend to less control over emotions. I tend to lash out- something small can set me off and I lash out- usually saying something I don't mean. I am more angry with myself, and with this disease than anything else.
Does anyone else have this?
Pain free days,

Re: Anger and migraines
Yes, I have this also. I think it's a combination of the migraine itself causing a symptom and the fact that we have to deal with this unfair and almost unbearable disease while being faced with friends or doctors who think we are exaggerating or trying to get attention. Just typing that sentence made me angry.
I have noticed in the past that I can be irritable before I even know that I have a migraine, implying that it's actually a symptom of the migraine itself. I also can get very angry when thinking about my migraines and about how I've had to suffer for almost 15 years so far and nothing seems to help much and others can't even begin to understand... etc... you know the drill.

I don't get angry, I just get very very unhappy (whereas I'm usually a fairly upbeat person).
I think it is the seratonin drops that preceded migraines that cause this.

I do not get mad, but I definitely get very irritable and restless in the early stages of M, just like if keeping myself very busy would beat/igore the emerging pain.

Re: Anger and migraines
I get very angry and mean. A lot of the arguments that go on between my bf and I are when I am feeling the worst. He has even commented to the doctors that he knows when I don't feel good because of this.
With me being in pain all the time, it has really made it hard on us. I really thought I was the only one that had this problem. Has anyone ever noticed any other emotional changes? I wish I could just be normal.

I'm with ya...
The morning of my migraine I went downstairs to talk to my husband and I felt this surge of sadness just started crying. I felt so sad. Talk about a drop in serotonin...
