Rough patch with migraines and update
Hi All,
For the past few weeks the migraines have been just awful. I am just really frustrated because I've done everything I can possibly do to deal with it- IV Depakan two weeks ago, steroids, and nothing is working well. I am on Ultram ER. This, alsong with the immediate release Ultram, klonopin, Tylenol 3, and benedryl are taking the edge off, but that is it. I know it will get better at some point, but it is really frustrating the living daylights out of me at the moment.
The fainting has also been horrendous lately. Last weekend, at my roommates family reunion, I fainted so much that they started pouring my drinks into one of the toddler's sippy cups. I was on the floor a lot- the smaller children simply thought I was a pretty good obstacle course.
I have been fainting an average of twenty times a day recently. I hate having to explain it all the time. Last week, as I was walking home from the gym, I fainted in front of a building owned by the college. The maintainence guys asked if I was ok and I said yes. They asked where I lived, and I said about two blocks away. So they kindly offered me a lift in the golf cart. I didn't think anything of it. 15 minutes later, the head of seccurity and one professor showed up at my door to see if I was ok. I said yes, and then, of course, I passed out in front of them. I told them it was ok. 30 minutes later, I got a call from my father who said the college had called him to make sure i was ok. He said I was and explained stuff. He also advised me to let the service dog people know. I am just so frustrated and tired of this.
I have an appointment with a new cardiologist on thursday. I have also learned that my old, wonderful, neuro who used to run the headache center there is coming back and I will definitely make an appointment as soon as i can.
I am just so tired of having to deal with this. Maybe a low key weekend will help?
I'd welcome any advice.
Pain free days,

Ideas.....?
I know this sounds like a pain in the tush, AND I'm not sure how comfortable you are sharing with other people, but perhaps you could type something up about how you have a "rare" condition that makes you faint frequently and are working with doctors to help the issue. You could carry a few copies in your purse, then when it happens, if you think people are going to make too much of a fuss, you can just hand them a copy and tell them it "explains everything...have a nice day and thanks for your help" and walk away.
Not a perfect solution by any means. I hope they finally find something to break your cycle of M's!!

Well at least you are still keeping a good sense of humor about it.
I know it must be awfully frustrating.
Good idea to see about the service dog again and to carry cards.
But honestly I'm glad to hear that people are helpful and concerned.
It restores my faith in humanity.
I hope you find some real solutions with the new doctor.
We are all rooting for you!

Yah, I have to say that chronic migraines are not fun at all. I have been through some nasty boutes when I thought that they would never end. Then I started figuring out what was causing them, and started to avoid my migraine triggers. Maybe that is why I am passionate about telling people about them.
Hang in there, we are rooting for you.
