Humor to Cope?
I'd like to ease everyone's suffering with a little bit of humor
Just for fun tell us your most ill-timed, embarrassing, scary or notable episode, in a somewhat funny or really hilarious way! ( It'll be very easy to be funnier than my story!)
I'll get us started:
Worst timed migraine was one afternoon I was in a teaching credential program, and had to leave the classroom and lay down outside in the hallway. One by one, over the course of an hour, various students came outside to check on me....laying in the fetal position with my coat over my head to block the light..people walking by, staring at that lady on the floor. Finally, I realized I had to get home and a nice student drove me home....I got asked about that a lot later---what was wrong with you?
Another time I was in the salon with my hair in foils....a migraine hit, I had to get to the hospital ASAP for a pain/nausea injection. My neighbor came and picked me up to take me, and I left with my plastic apron on and my hair wet and full of gunk!!!! I was like passed out in her chair, wanting to die right then....I got so many looks at Kaiser......now it seems funny. At the time it was no laughing matter.
I have heard it said that humor is excellent to help cope with difficult problems in life. Please share anything even remotely funny for some levity. Laughter heals

Re: Humor to Cope?
Hi ,
I agree that humour is really a good way of tackling any problems in life.
Unfortunately, while you are in the middle of a migraine episode, this humour doesnt help. only after coming out you could find it funny I guess
I can give you an account of my first migraine attack ( I am male 41 yrs, with just 1 year of migraine experience).
While working at my desk, suddenly appeared visual scotoma (grey patch.) I looked at a colleague across my desk and saw his face is not visible. thought some temporary thing , but I was happy because he was not a pleasant one to deal with in the first place !!
But then things started to become worse - broken mirror like perceptions. Immediately started back home. On the tube, the girl opposite to me was giving me surprised glances because I was panning my head from side to side - so that I get a full panoramic picture of my visual field!!
Things got worse when after 10 mins I thought I was having a stroke! I got out of tube and walked to a pharmacist for helping me with 999. I couldn't figure out the word 'stroke' to explain my condition ! He helped me figure out the word when paramedics arrived . strange incidents.
But looking back I now understand fully why those happened. Later I met the pharmacist - only to tell him I had only a migraine attack!!
Please keep posting your experiences !
regards
Kris

Re: Humor to Cope?
Hi Everyone-
What a great idea!
The incident I am recalling was: Hubby and i were eating at Sonic. (Correction: he was eating. I was hurting pretty bad, but nothing to be alarmed about.) So the food comes and I am getting worse and worse and I can feel my nausea getting worse and realized I need somewhere to throw up. I head over to a trash can, which happens to be placed right by the drive-thru. Yup, I toss all of my cookies in there, and continue for a few minutes...
Meanwhile, there are still cars going thru the drive-thru just staring. (obviously!) Well my hubby is just hanging out eating his burger at the table outside. (This just shows how de-sensitized we really are, the fact that this was not alarming at all is not lost on us!)
The manager comes running out and says "Is she okay?" And Ryan, between bites, says "Oh yeah-she's fine." Said manager returns with ice water, napkins and peppermint candies for me. We went straight to the ER after that.
So obviously that experience was awful to be in, looking back on it now, we really do find the humor in it-what a sight it must have been!

Re: Humor to Cope?
I agree humor is the best medicine. Unfortunately, looking back, most of my headaches and migraines have been very sad and boring indeed.
In one strange event, I was in bed with a killer migraine and having severe sound sensitivity as is usual for me. An airplane went by outside, but with my heightened sensitivity it sounded exactly like it flew straight through my head from one ear to the other. It totally freaked me out! I can still remember how real that perception was.
