migraine and planes
I have to get on a plane in an hour and a half. I've had a 4 day migraine. The head pain and nausea haven't been bad, but I have other symptoms-some mental confusion, muscle weakness, feeling cold and frequent urination. About two hours ago I took some cafergot and stemetil. I'll be travelling from 6AM to 6PM and then a 2 hour drive if I can't find anyone to pick me up at the airport. Wish me luck, I'll need it.

Re: migraine and planes
oh sending you all the very best. I have the most horrendous memories of my last plane trip from Canada back to Australia (14hr trip) last year with a migraine all the way. Even though it was a year ago, I still couldn't get on a plane today. Its too real. Thinking and praying for you.

Some travelling tips
Travelling is a nightmare - even the smell of all those diesel ariport fuel can make me feel sick. The stress, the crowds, the noise - yet, for some reason I have often found that I do not get migraine during the flight, this often comes later, when I relax. But there are no rules.
Just make sure that you have plenty of water - we get very quickly de-hydrated when flying and some airlines are mean about stocking enough water (saving on fuel, by cutting weight), so bring some with you, especially on a long flight. This is very important. Or else ask for extra bottle or two, at the beginning of the flight, since they often run out. I tell them I need more to take medicines (which is often true).
And make sure that you have some healthy snack handy as well.
Good luck.

I made it through the week
After a few hours on the plane the meds kicked in and I felt pretty good. That lasted until Thursday when I had to go to a funeral. I took a little more ergotamine and got through it although I didn't feel great. Yesterday's flight was okay, no migraine, but felt headachey this morning. My head did not act up as much as I thought it would. I am so much better than I used to be, but I still have low level migraines.

about lentils?
It is good to know that your flight did not cause you any bad migraines. But I understand that no matter what we worry, just in case, because bad migraine during long distance travel can be a nightmare.
Lentils, forgive me if I ask something on completely another subject. It is about your "name". Are you using it because it is your favourite food?
And if so can you suggest some interesting (but not too complicated) recipe for lentils? I am having a vegan visitor next Thursday and I was thinking about cooking something with lentils for him. I make nice carrot and lentils soup, and Indian dahl, but I would like to try something different.
Any ideas?
BTW I live in UK so we might not have all of the most exotic ingredients.
Thanks

lentils
I like lentils, but don't eat them too often because beans are a trigger for me. I love dahl and do eat it occasionally. Lentils is my childhood nickname, my name is Linda and I guess it is derived from that.
