Help with movies, please....

Perhaps somebody has a clue what movies or one movie can it be-
it's probably a romantic comedy, a romance any way.

I remember an apartment, two males and a girl. The males could have been brothers or best friends.
I have a vague idea of a scene where the timid one -secretly vying for a girl - comes to the apartment where they live
there is a high flight of stairs. They have a long romantic walk together.
He suffers her from afar watching with this other guy - his brother or best friend, but at the end of the movie I think they end up together.

Now the other movie - I remember nothing except at the end the guy gives her a book which the girl's father used to read to her in her childhood.

This could be the same movie, or two separate ones, I have no clue.
Oh, and in both movies stars quite known actors -but, eh, this da*n old migrainous head, pooped!

Zoe says the second one is probably called Definitely, Maybe. She isnt sure about the first one. We watch a lot of movies here! I will ask my older daughter Meagan when she gets up, she has an almost photographic memory.

Sounds like this a lot, from what you describe - a very old film though...

Cindy thanks - will check that - I thought it could be Ryan Reynolds, he fits the type.

Mini - thank you too, but no, this is a movie from the last decade, or the nineties at most.
