A disappointing night
Last night we had a big blow-out for my MIL's 80th birthday. I had decided migraine or no migraine I was going to cut loose, drink to my hearts content, dance. Just throw caution to the wind. I made close to 300 jello shots and was ready for a good time.
I was home soaking in my tub by 6:30 pm.
And for once, it wasn't my head. It was my back. We spent all day running, getting the hall set up etc. I was careful not to lift anything, but it didn't matter. By 5:30 I had sharp shooting pains. Then my BIL came up behind me, put his hands on my shoulders and for some unknown reason jerked me backwards (my husband's two brothers are horrible about rough-housing and man-handling people). I almost cried.
My eldest son witnessed it and immediately came to my side. I asked him if he had pulled me as far back as it felt, or if I was just being hyper-sensitive. He said no, he pulled me pretty far back.
At that point I had had jello shots, and a few shots of Tequila Rose, but it didn't make any difference. I remained sober as a judge.
Today, I'm trying to look at the bright side, I don't have a massive hangover and don't have a headache.
Plus, all my jello shots were delish and I'm now the jello shot queen. The very best ones were the margarita ones, but the dreamsicle and watermelon schnappes got kudo's too.
I very seldom drink, so it was kind of fun to see the expression on people's faces when I rolled out a cooler of jello shots!
I'm just tired of hurting all the time and not being able to have a social life. I was looking forward to dancing a slow dance with hubby and maybe even doing some line dancing (that would've been AFTER the booze kicked in!).

Re: A disappointing night
Aww no! I was so hoping you were going to have a good time.
I'm happy today you are feeling well though, but I'm so sorry your back is in pain.
At least it sounded like everyone had a great time and you did a wonderful job throwing
your MIL's party. It is a very kind thing of you to do, especially since you have been going
through a tough couple of weeks.
Hopefully soon you will get the relief you need from the dredded shots (which I prey wont be
as bad as you think, and I really hope they let you get twilighted) and you will be able to get out
more with friends and your hubs.
At least you know you can occasionally enduldge in some jello shots without worry of a M
monster! Lucky!! Thats one positive thing out of the night.
After the back treatment you get, we can celebrate my birthday if you want! We can skype
(its like a free internet videophone) and throw our very own drinking party LOL It will
probably be a little more boring but hey, if I get drunk enough I'll definitely be down for line dancing!

Charlotte,
I hope you're back is okay today. I know, for me, back pain often precipitates or escalates a migraine. Hope that doesn't happen to you.
Glad you had a good time.

Oh lovegia, wouldn't that make an interesting little party. Stevie would definitely look at me like I'm nuts if I was in the computer room by myself, whooping in up and then broke into singular line dancing!!! What a sight that would be!

How disappointing. I hope you are feeling better today and the back pain isn't too horrible. Makes me want to go kick your BIL in the shin.

Re: A disappointing night
Sorry to hear your plans to indulge didn't turn out =(
There will always be a next time, and as you said you feel better today than you would of have had you really whooped it up.
Who knows, maybe it was a good thing you stopped when you did, maybe MORE back pain was in your future due to drunken line dancing lol (I have felt the effects of "how low can you go" for many a day to come!!!lol). See instead of a big jerk maybe your BIL is a secret angel...lol
How's THAT for painting you a silver lining??
Hope your feeling better!

Re: A disappointing night
You guys make me feel so much better. I have an offer for a skype party, someone to kick my BIL, and a very resourceful silver lining specialist.
Your all great!

I have a sneaking suspicion he tried to be a chiropractor. Did it work ??
At least you could enjoy your shots w/o hangover. Oh how I envy you

Re: A disappointing night
Well, they now make margarita jello. Who knew? So you add two cups of boiling water to 6 oz. of jello. Wait for it to cool to room temp. (unless you want non-alcoholic shots!). Then I added two cups of premixed tequila margarita. I put it in plastic shot containers with lids. I made some with lime jello and those were pretty good too.
The Dreamsicles were the same process but with orange jello and two cups of vanilla liquer.
Then watermelon jello with watermelon schnapps, and peach jello with peach schnapps (those were hubby's favorite)
I made cranberry and vodka too. For those though I diluted the booze to 6 oz. cold water to 10 oz. vodka. Doing the full 16 oz of vodka tasted too strong for me.
Oh, I did make some rum and cherry coke ones, but they were yucky.
By far the favorite of the group were the margarita ones.
