Pacemaker tomorrow....
well guys, the docs have decided to get my heart rhythm more in sync. this should help greatly with my low heart rate and with syncope (fainting).
so, i'll post when i'm up to it (shouldn't be too long). i should be in the hospital overnight.
if not, see ya on the flip side.

Oh, Dear Marc. My eyes welled up when I saw your "flip side" comment. Everything is so fragile and transitory.
I'll be thinking of you all day and awaiting your post (or signal? Send us butterflies in the middle of winter?).
Hugs

Re: Pacemaker tomorrow....
Yes good luck Marc, hope all goes well. I'm still having a lot of arrythmia problems myself, loads of skipped beats that make me feel like I am going to faint, slow heartrate, fast heartrate. I am going to the hospital on Dec. 8th to be fitted with a holter monitor for 48 hours, hopefully the heart will misbehave during that time!
Sorry, didn't mean to talk about me. Really hoping this will help you, keep us posted.

Hey guys. Big thanks to everyone. Procedure went well. Both ventricles are paced. Tired and sore.
Staff and doc has been great. I get out tomorrow.

Re: Pacemaker tomorrow....
Big thanks to everyone. I appreciate your support--and it goes right back at ya. I was discharged this morning--yeehaw.
Quite sore and still a bit goofy from the amount of meds to knock me out to do the procedure. So far so good. I didn't sleep that well in the hospital--I think I woke up about every 15 minutes or so.
The EP tech came in this morning and ran a boat load of diagnostics and everything works fine. The EP doc came in and gave me her blessings. Since it was placed, it has kicked in 37 times. It senses heart rate needs and supplies some electrical impulses to the nodes. I had noticeably more energy this morning. Since my med schedule got knocked off, I'll see how I feel over the next few days.
Staples come out next week and I have a check up.
I may have went in dehyrated. Just about every IV infliltrated or just flat out had no go. I have about 5 entry sites, and I leaked more blood than usual. Who knows.
Gotta take it easy...no bowling for a long time, LOL.
We'll see how it works. I don't think I'm going to have a night and day difference, but it will help with the overall cardiac treatment.
Ruth, hope you get some help. I know how uncomfortable it feels.
Again, big thanks!

Marc!
I'm really sorry that I am writing so late after your initial post about the pacemaker. I've been stuck on my iPhone the last few months and my chubby fingers do N O T like the touchscreen! No excuses, though, a quick message takes no time.
I am SO glad you had it implanted and that you may be monitored a bit easier?
I hope you continue to recover well. Vicki is right: we need you alive kicking and screaming with your pearly pure bites of medical wisdo
Here!!
Take care, Marcky-Marc!

Update
Thanks so much guys!
Had my follow up appointment this morning. Guess what, I'm battery powered, LOL. The pacemaker is working 67% of the time. That means it's helping the electrical system and making the heart pump more efficiently.
It has a rate drop feature, which would monitor rhythm if it were to drop suddenly. for example if your rate went from 90 to 60. This feature has kicked in 9 times in 9 days--most of them were a couple days ago. This kept me from getting dizzy and fainting. It automatically paces at 100 beats per min for 2 minutes, then resenses.
I do think it has helped a bit with my migraine. That means this is more a vascular problem with a bit of a goofy central neurological twist, and my brain just wasn't getting enough oxygenated blood.
Quite significant!
I have to chill for the next 3 weeks and not do anything wild. They really want the wires that were screwed into the heart's wall to settle in.
Thanks! After looking back, I could have benefited from this 20+ years ago. The doc said there's a decent correlation to kids passing out when they are young to needing pacers later in life. No kidding.
