Tylenol and stomach cancer
A friend recently told me that they are suspecting tylenol can cause stomach cancer, has anyone else heard this ?
I have been taking it for years, and I must say it does upset my tummy a lot. Apparantly it was on the news here a couple of weeks ago.

never heard this. Aspirin can cause bleeding. Likewise Ibuprofen. Paracetamol/acetaminophen can cause liver damage in LARGE quantities. I dont see how any of them can cause cancer.....

Not sure how you bump the posts up anymore, but still wondering if anyone else has heard of this?

I've never heard this. I think inflammation of any kind can make you more susceptible to cancer though so if your stomach is inflamed by the tylenol, maybe, but I would think this would pertain to aspirin before tylenol. Who knows anymore. Cancer is caused by just about anything it seems. If we live long enough, we will end up with some form of it.

Ruth I think the way to bump up a post is to respond.
Linda I agree, most of us will die with cancer rather than from it, assuming we reach the goal posts.

I guess you're right, there's so much cancer everywhere these days, humans and animals, makes you wonder why.
Pen how are you surviving over there with the snow, ice and freezing temps? I'm used to it now living in Canada, but I lived in London, UK
for 26 years and never saw anything quite as bad as you have now.

Re: Tylenol and stomach cancer
I've been using Tylenol for years. I would be more concerned about liver issues.
Only real way to measure stomach lining issues is to have biopsies performed.
I've had 5 upper GI and duodenum endoscopies performed, 4 of them with biopsies. Biopsies have returned mostly normal. Changes have occured due to stomach acid, not Tylenol.
Take care.

That's encouraging! I have had an endoscopy and it was normal too.

Risa, we were at a friend's house last week and she said there had been something on t.v. about a possible link to tylenol. I tried finding information but couldn't find any. I'm not going to worry about it anyway.
