Any clues on what's happening gratefully received!!
Where do I start??
Ok a few years back started to have a gold lace over my vision.
Went to eye specialist, optomitrist - nothing they could see. Written off as migraine aura.
Had BIG migraine couple of years back, went to ER, they did lumbar puncture but hashed it, so couldn't tell whether it was a stroke or not as they weren't sure if the blood in the sample was from stroke or where they had been digging. (It really wasn't a good day.)
CT scan same day showed nothing.
MRI a few months back trying to sort dizziness showed "white imaging". But not sure where this is as after looking and looking at the six films in the packet, realized that the seventh which probably shows this white image isn't in the packet.
After that big M, the eye muck continued to worsen, with a new twist - literally.
On a few occassions it felt like someone was twisting the inside of my eyeball in a knot.
My vision didn't change, but no longer centred on my script glasses at times.
Headache didn't leave, just always a constant. Dizziness lot of time, neusea etc like migraine. But no more big M's.
Got used to the vision as specialist said I would.
Until yesterday.
Woke up, looked out into my garden and thought I can see a bit better. Not as much gold lace, not as much twist.
Went to work and at 8.30 had the shimmer and lightening aura of old that says big M coming.
It did.
Woke up this morning, opened one eye and could see my bedside table.
Walked outside and can see poles five hundred metres away that I haven't been able to see for two years.
Love the idea of mini miricle - but can anyone point to what might have happened?
Been to M specialist, 2 optomitrist, eye specialist and numerous doctors in the past few years. No clues. Who do I go to to try and understand this?

marion,
fluoroscein angiogram checks out a lot of info regarding the eye and retina. it's a pretty painless procedure. from there an eye doc (i had this done by a retinal specialist) can monitor any changes in your eyes. here's some info.
fluoroscein angiogram
as to the mystifying changes? don't know. i had a check-up with the retinal specialist that required 2 visits. day 1, heavy migraine blew up and my vision decreased. day 2, after a lot of meds to knock down the m, my vision became clearer. the doc was confident enough to say migraine was the cause. i tend to believe him.
migraines surely cause us enough vision problems, but we can't just brush off any changes in vision due to migraine. always wise to check things out.
good luck!

Thanks PF.
I had the pupils opened up so many times with the drops that I think if it had been retina, something would have showed up with all the machines they used looking in.
The coincidence of reverting back to a traditional migraine the day it fixes itself I think leads to a wire broken in my brain.
Quite amazing though. I have spent all day looking out the window at things I haven't been able to see in years. REALLY WEIRD. BUT GOOD.
The headache, neusea and dizziness is still there and I know I shouldn't hope for too much, but must admit to kinda hoping they are just the residue of yesterdays migraine and might go too.
And the migraine yesterday wasn't as bad as I feared. Luckily the mattress factory next door had given one of the guys a mattress to take home, slightly used, and it was still upstairs. So I was able to dive up there straight away. Strange day.
