Substitute doctor turned out to be WONDERFUL Empty Substitute doctor turned out to be WONDERFUL

I went for a prescription renewal and my regular doctor was away so I had to settle for the newby. Well this new doctor had a lot of interest in my migraines, and was concerned about stroke risks. We had a real long talk and she listened and when I left I had a referral to headache specialist, a progesterone based birth control I wanted to try, nasal imitrex along with pill imitrex, options to think about, and.....more hope than I have felt for years. The specialist has a 9 month waiting list, but hay, I've waited this long.

Regular family doctors are real hard to get in this part of Canada, so when you get one, you usually don't jump ship unless they are horrible. I might have an in with her for the future. The waiting room people looked mad at me because I took so much time and I had a big grin on my face, but I DON"T CARE! SOMEONE LISTENED TO ME!

Plus I won a GPS earlier this week. It has nothing to do with this appointment, but I'm having a good week.

Glad to hear that! Sometimes a new doc with a new attitude can effect huge change. Younger docs seem to be much more helpful, at least around my area. Hope it continues to work out well for you.

That's good news Angela. It recharges you and gives you such hope when you've had an appointment like that. I hope the new regime will help Smile

"Micronor" It is a progesterone only pill (POP) or minipill. Info about it is on
http://www.2womenshealth.com/Micronor.htm

I've only read about women who have upped their progesterone and decreased their estrogen and have had migraine releif so I don't know if it will work for me yet. The downside is I will no longer have regular menstral cycles as I was never regular on my own.

I start the new pill in a couple of weeks so in about a month I can see if it works. I will post my findings after a while.
