Re: True Blood...
Sorry, I've never heard of it. I take it's a vampire show? I don't like anything scary like that. They give me nightmares! I can handle intense, such as a suspense movie or TV show, but I can't stand anything creepy or scary. It took a long time for friends to talk me into watching The Sixth Sense because I am so creeped out by ghosts and things. They had to convince me that the ghosts weren't weird or evil like they often are portrayed in movies and that the movie wasn't scary at all. But the next movie that M. Knight Shaymalan (sp?) did give me nightmares, and it wasn't meant to be scary. I can't remember its name, but it was about a man (Bruce Willis) who was the sole survivor in a train wreck and who walked away without any scratches at all and who is approached by a man who thinks that Willis' character is incapable of getting hurt. It rather creeped me out.

Re: True Blood...
For me, it all started with different, very funny and not at all scary series about the trouble prone Queen Vampire Betsy
from the 'Undead...' series by MaryJanice Davidson starting with "Undead and Unwed", :
http://maryjanicedavidson.net/the-undead-series-betsy/
lots of occasional hot, hot sex scenes, I must warn you though, nothing tasteless IMO though
From then I was suggested the "True Blood" series by Charlaine Harris:
http://www.charlaineharris.com/
...got her one book, never got to read it yet, and meantime happened upon the TV series one night on HBO
and got hopelessly hooked ever since.
This is so well made into series that the show was awarded some, well- awards, and the actress
playing Sookie Stackhouse, Anna Paquin, got the first prize and other actors, too.
and I agree - well deserved.
There is everything in this series- vampires, werewolves, shifters, telepaths, voodoo, and other supernatural stuff intertwined with hot sex, too but also tasteful. The plot is very involving, intriguing and quite endearing here and there.
The main character, Sookie, fell in love with Bill, the vampire.
But also another powerful vampire, Eric seem to be very much in love with Sookie - will Sookie and Bill's love withstand the trials ahead, considering what's happening to Bill? behind the scenes, a fierce struggle for power, money, territory, - what else, lol

Is the series scary? Not to me, I don't know if they would be for you.
There is certainly a good amount of gory details - vampires sucking blood, some violence, and the likes.
But I prefer that to a real violence where I know that these things REALLY happen - like war, gangs, abuse, child abuse etc.
To me, True Blood is a great entertainment!

Not seen True Blood.
My daughter tells me it is full of lust, and the books are better.
Been watching Supernatural though.

Re: True Blood...
I watched Supernatural, too!
but then I think the writers got the plot overly complicated and too dark, too gloomy and depressing with all that hullabaloo with "where is God?", although I must admit Cass was quite funny and sexy
but I couldn't stand to watch killing/ separating the brothers left and right.
This show is so based on them brothers fighting evil together, that once they spoiled that I've lost interest and don't watch it as much.
What about Medium and Ghost Whisperer? It's different, but I like it, do you guys?

Yeah we have Ghost Whisperer and Medium too.
Ghost whisperer got a little samey after a while, but we still watched them.
My girls are in a void now because Vampire Diaries is off for the summer.

Oh yeah Vampire Diaries lol now that's a fine show but a little too young for me
but guys and dolls are very sexy, there is something to "hang your eyes on" certainly, too, lolol

Re: True Blood...
That definitely sounds like nightmare material to me! I have a tendency to brood upon things that I have recently read or watched, and that makes the nightmares crop up. What is worst is when I know I'm dreaming but can't make myself wake up enough to stop it from recurring. I think I'll leave this show to you!
