Suggestions needed on how to continue to function in spite of Migraines
Once again, I am so excited to have found this site. Also, I read several of the poems posted here and they are awesoe, I could relate so much to so many of them. My question is that I am wondering how others deal with functioning at all when the migraines are 3-4 times a week and the meds cause such fatigue. I have a constant headache that makes pretty much anything difficult to do and then it goes into migraine level as I said at least 3-5 times a week. My neurologist has ordered home health care starting next week. My insurance will only pay so much for this, so please share with me some of your coping skills to be able to keep a household.
Thanks,
Faith aka Diana

How I deal
Thankfully, I have people who love me that live with me that take up my slack, but for the most part, here is what I do...
1)Decide what is most important to get done today.
2)Do as much of it as possible (in order of importance) before M sets in.
3)Decide if anything on the list from step 1 absolutely can not be put off until tomorrow and enlist necessary assistantance if applicable.
4)Deal with M.
This is pretty much my daily routine. Some days I get more done than others. I am lucky enough to have friends who will run me around on errands if I need them to, and loved ones who help with housework (some times...lol) My house looks lived in, my car needs cleaned out, but the dishes are clean, we all have clean clothes & there's food in the house...We're good!!
I know this sounds simple, but trust me...SIMPLE WORKS!! Good Luck!!

Re: Suggestions needed on how to continue to function in spite of Migraines
Well, I would suggest that you keep a food diary and find out if your migraines are food triggered. Write down "EVERYTHING" that you eat and drink for about 2 weeks (or longer) in a daily calendar, and how you feel/migraines that you have. Over time you may find that there are foods or drinks that are associated with your migraines. I know it is hard to do, but the rewards may be hidden in there, and best of all its free. There may be no correlation, or there may be a high correlation between what you consume and the number of migraines that you get and the intensity. It is estimated that 30% of people that get migraines are food triggered, and a majority of people that are on MAOI Rx meds get food triggered migraines.

Re: Suggestions needed on how to continue to function in spite of Migraines
I've pretty much learned that I just have to accept the fact that I can't do everything I would like to when I would like to. I do what I can when I feel well, and save the "lighter" jobs for days I don't feel well. Things like laundry, loading the dish washer, and making grocery lists I can handle when I have what I call a mid level migraine. On really bad days, I just have to accept I can't do anything. It sucks, and it can cause friction sometimes, but what can you do?
