Can I be going through menopause even if I'm on HRT?
I went through surgical menopause 20 years ago due to ovarian cysts and andemyosis. For the past ten years I've been on the lowest dose of Climera, a estrogen patch.
Lately I have been wildly emotional. We blamed it on preventatives but I have been off of them for over a month and am still very sensitive, *itchy, crying all the time and have a very short fuse.
For the first time in 26 years I feel like I'm having marital trouble, the poor guy can't do anything right without me seeing it as a personal affront and bursting in to tears.
I almost feel like I do whenever I try to go off my HRT. Irrational. Do other parts of the body produce estrogen that might be shutting down on me?
I am tired of crying!

I don't know, logically if you went thru surgical meno once, you shouldn't twice but then... who knows??
Are you sure it's not some meds you are taking?

I've been having such horrible luck with preventatives I'm not even on one right now. Last month we tried pamedol (pamelor? Geez, I've been on so many I dont remeber their names anymore) but I was hysterically crying after a week and went off of it.
Right now I'm on Climera ( estrogen patch), Vitamin D, OTC laxatives and opioids.
I honestly don't think it's the opioids, it's such a relief and pleasure to have my pain at a controllable level for the first time in several years. I'm making it through my full work day easily so I'm not feeling the pressure of worrying about my job.
I'm still not sleeping well, getting up every two hours, but now not being in pain I'm able to fall back asleep once I go to the bathroom.

I replyed to your post awhile ago and it didn't take ...huh.
I am in surgical menopause x4 years and also use the Climara Patch.075mg.
Have you had your levels tested? Something might have changed. I get them tested every 2 years. I use Estrogen only.
One thing I have noticed since the surgery is that I am to warm to wear sweaters and once I start sweating it is hard to stop. I have always loved to wear sweaters in the winter but I haven't been able to wear one since the surgery.Have you noticed anything like that?
I will wean myself at age 55. The doc said I'm good on the Climara til then. My insurance won't cover it because it doesn't have the progesterone also. $67 a month!!! But lets make sure men have VIAGRA!!!!
Just like my osteoporosis. Won't cover any of the drugs but they will fork out $50,000+ in a couple years when I break something.
