Nasty storm....wind and waves
My head sure can tell a nasty system has come through. Gusts up to 70 knots, gale warning. Last night severe storms, hail, tornado watches.
Got some pics of Lake Erie stirred up a bit. Pics take along the lakeshore. My usual area I like to take wave photos at was too dangerous to get down to today--lots of falling trees and limbs.
This is a small jetty on the east side of a creek access. Water temp, ~50degrees.

Some "blowback" from a wave crashing against the shore and some debris.

A very grumpy Lake Erie. Facing north. Wave heights close to shore were 6-10 ft. Offshore 14++ with high crests towards the Canadian shoreline since wind is more south, southwest.

Where the creek/channel & marina mouth meets the lake. Very dangerous area due to currents and sand bars. Off of these waters, my grandfather and mother loved to fish off their old Chris-Craft.

A bit of a sea monster. Those waves were about 4ft. or so close to shore. The "graybeards" you see towards the horizon are much, much higher. They come in a rapid order and knock you down very quickly. I have a lot of respect for this lake, as it almost took me one day. Offshore, from Ohio to NY borders, and to Ontario on the other side lie around 500 wrecks from when the lakes were the transportation superhighway of the day.

It does look angry.
So many shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. I think people would be amazed at the actual number.

Great pics! That is what it looks like at the ocean here. And of course that came with an ugly barometer drop i'm sure.

Great pictures! I specially loved the one with the trees.
It all looks more like a sea, then a Lake - very impressive waves.
You are right to keep a safe distance.
I can also see that when things calm down, you will have plenty of fine wood for your fireplace, for a long, long time.
I have two real fire places at home, and whenever I go for walks I take a looseg bag and try collect some fallen dry branches and twigs about the countryside, as they are great for starting the fire.
It is a quite cold spring here this year, so I am using fireplaces much more then usual (it is too warm for CH) so, when looking at the shores of the lake, it is the sight of all this wood that caught my attention as well.
Keep warm and safe

Love the pics. as it too reminds me of the ocean which I miss more than anything in my homeland of England.
I used to love to watch the waves crashing (from a distance) on a stormy day.
Too bad it has to mess with our head though.
Thanks for sharing:)

Wow, that does look like the ocean. Those lakes are really like fresh water inland seas. Amazing!

Definitely ocean worthy waves you've got there!
